00:02 When someone gets behind the wheel under the influence of drink or drugs,

00:06 they are making a choice to put themselves or others at risk.

00:10 Hang on guys, I've got a road traffic accident with a drunk driver.

00:16 We've got a cyclist who's been knocked off his bike,

00:19 laying in the road, so will you put him in ambulance as well please?

00:21 We've dispatched officers, they'll be with you as soon as they possibly can.

00:25 They're coming on blue lights, alright?

00:27 And what about the driver, where is he?

00:31 He's under, well, sits as a rest, if you can call it that at the moment.

00:34 Very aggressive.

00:35 Couple of guys holding on to him, trying to get him in the back of his car

00:38 to stop him driving off.

00:40 The cyclist in the dash cam footage was not fatally injured

00:44 and continues to make a recovery.

00:46 The driver was charged with drink driving and dangerous driving.

00:50 They were sentenced to a two year suspended sentence,

00:53 disqualified from driving for two years

00:55 and ordered to work for 300 hours unpaid.
