00:18 That's what taxi drivers like George Marimat

00:22 have been going through in the following oil price hikes.

00:24 And it's not yet enough to rest from the oil price hike last week.

00:28 The motorists will be charged a new high price after the long weekend.

00:32 Pesos and 10 cents for gasoline, 20 cents for diesel, and 70 cents for kerosene.

00:39 If the high price is included tomorrow,

00:42 the gasoline will be almost a peso higher within the next six weeks.

00:47 For diesel and kerosene, the price will be higher next seven weeks.

00:52 If it's included, it will reach more or less 12 pesos per liter.

00:57 That's why the Philippine National Taxi Operators Association or PINTOA called the LTFRB.

01:02 Their motion for reconsideration is now in action

01:05 on the petition to raise the flag down rate of taxis to 70 pesos

01:08 from the current 40 pesos.

01:11 They said they petitioned this in 2021.

01:14 Last year, they were allowed to raise the flag down rate, but only to 5 pesos.

01:18 But PINTOA said that the operators did not fulfill this

01:21 because they asked for an additional 30 pesos for the flag down.

01:25 The last time that the taxis had a responsive fare increase was way back 2017.

01:32 Six years ago, when prices of fuel went up to 38 pesos.

01:37 We need a more responsive and realistic fare increase,

01:42 which is what was contained in our petition.

01:46 We need to get it back because the gas prices are really high.

01:51 The 70 pesos flag down rate is making us pay a lot of money.

01:56 It's not reasonable because our salaries are not going up.

01:59 For me, it's an addition.

02:01 All of our purchases have gone up, so they should go up too.

02:05 We all have a life.

02:07 We are also supporting the LTFRB's motion.

02:11 The group in Mazda petitioned the Marquesa De Petición

02:14 for a 30-peso provisional fare increase in the GT.

02:17 In another statement, Senator Grace Poe said that instead of a high fare,

02:22 the 3 billion pesos fuel subsidy will be divided.

02:25 The DOTR said that their target is to give it to the end of August.
