00:00 Migilita and Virginia have been casting their votes in Barangay West Rembo in Makati City
00:05 for over four decades now.
00:07 But in the upcoming Barangay and SK elections, they will be registered voters of Taguig instead
00:13 of Makati.
00:14 "Of course, we will change because if it's Taguig, there's nothing we can do.
00:20 But it's hard to accept.
00:23 It hurts us that we will be transferred.
00:27 Let them finish this year.
00:29 Of course, if it changes, it will change if it's Taguig."
00:34 Barangay West Rembo resident Bong Gravines is also against the decision to move them
00:39 to Taguig, even appealing for a plebiscite.
00:41 "You said, 'We know the people who will run.'
00:45 It's like we don't want to accept the people who will vote because we are already
00:51 getting tired of voting."
00:53 In a memorandum released on Monday, Comelec recognizes the 10 Embo barangays as part of
00:59 Taguig in the upcoming polls.
01:01 Registered voters from these barangays will now be under Taguig.
01:05 Aspirants will be filing their certificates of candidacy at the office of the city election
01:10 officer in the Taguig Convention Center.
01:13 In the memo, the poll body also enumerated the tasks of its offices to ensure a smooth
01:18 transfer.
01:19 "This is to implement the Supreme Court's decision and to help our fellowmen to vote
01:26 as citizens, residents of Taguig City."
01:32 Ballots of the Embo barangays are among the nearly two million that will be reprinted
01:37 by the National Printing Office for the barangay in SK elections.
01:42 Comelec assured that the reprinting will not be costly.
01:44 "We have already printed some that are for municipalities, not for cities.
01:51 So the names of the cities and the towns are not coinciding.
01:56 That's why Comelec decided to reprint them so that we can change the names of the ballots."
02:03 Comelec says printing was temporarily halted in the afternoon due to a power supply issue
02:08 for the CCTVs.
02:11 Printing is expected to be finished in three to four days.
02:14 The election period and filing of Certificate of Candidacy will begin on August 28.
02:20 But as early as now, the poll body warns its pyrons against premature campaigning and other
02:25 offenses.
