00:00 The final day of the Arctic Race of Norway was always going to provide a worthy finale
00:06 to a fabulous event.
00:08 The racing absolutely at its hottest on some very, very cool days and this was to be no
00:14 different.
00:16 You can't get any further north than this, a worthy finale for the 10th edition of the
00:22 great race.
00:23 And just look at the course, nice and testy towards the end, a couple of kickers right
00:28 at the beginning, passing by some ancient settlements and just a reminder of how fabulous
00:34 this race can be.
00:42 Took a long time for the breakaway to establish itself, suddenly 15 riders were up the road
00:47 and most notably Noah Hobbs had already taken some bonus seconds along the way, the yellow
00:52 jersey secure on the shoulders of Williams.
00:55 This was turning out to be a battle of attrition, what a day it turned out to be, we even had
01:00 the sun for goodness sake.
01:08 Hobbs just starting to build his account as far as the blue jersey was concerned, could
01:14 he win it?
01:15 Scaroni was hoping not, he'd missed out on the first sprint.
01:18 We headed into the tunnels, Hobbs was undiminished, Williams still in yellow, we were heading
01:23 for a grand finale like no other, it's what we came for.
01:36 And of course Israel were pushing hard, they had a lot to lose and a lot to gain.
01:46 That big breakaway was just starting, not to expire but certainly to thin down, who
01:51 would be the bravest of all of them?
01:53 The answer was to be a certain Calzoni, he was folding himself inside and out, gunning
01:58 for the line, could anyone stay with it?
02:15 Hard break for Calzoni, caught in the last 250 metres, the race was on and the man who
02:20 took it was Shampouzin, along with Blue.
02:27 I'm absolutely delighted that we got up there at the end, the sprint was something very
02:32 special and it's saving everything until the last moment.
02:37 Well he did and he came very good indeed, sweet.
02:41 Shampouzin taking it ahead of Ayking, Gazzoli, Johannesson, Scaroni finishing sixth, not
02:47 a gap to Williams.
02:50 The blue jersey going the way of Shampouzin, an enormous points tally, what a great race.
02:58 A huge tally it was as well for this man.
03:02 The king of the mountain, Van Hamerland, he'd already won it before we even got to the final
03:06 day.
03:09 Kevin McMurk, the best young rider taking the jersey back to the United States.
03:15 Super work but a champion of course, Steve Williams.
03:19 To be honest I didn't expect conditions as bad as this but I think now that it's all
03:24 said and done I think it makes it a little more sweeter as well.
03:26 So really happy to get this one ticked off and just nice to get the hands in the air
03:35 yesterday and finish it off today.
03:38 And finish it off he did.
03:39 What an amazing race it turned out to be.
03:43 Williams our champion by a margin of just one second.
03:46 That's close.
03:48 So was the entire race.
03:50 A privilege to witness.
03:51 Thank you Norway.
03:52 Thank you.
03:53 Thank you.
03:54 Thank you.
03:55 Thank you.
03:56 Thank you.
03:57 Thank you.
