00:00 Sean and Leigh-Anne Toohey are terminating the conservatorship of retired NFL star Michael
00:06 Orr, whose story inspired the 2009 film "The Blind Side."
00:11 According to the Associated Press, the couple's attorney, Randall Fishman, reveals the news
00:16 to reporters on Aug. 16.
00:19 The update was announced days after Michael took legal action to challenge the conservatorship.
00:25 E! News has reached out to Orr's attorney for comment and has not yet heard back.
00:30 On Aug. 15, Sean and Leigh-Anne Toohey's attorney, Marty Singer, told E! News in a statement,
00:36 "Should Mr. Orr wish to terminate the conservatorship, either now or at any time in the future, the
00:42 Toohey's will never oppose it in any way."
00:45 The attorney also alleges that Orr is using his petition as a shakedown effort and dismisses
00:51 his claims about the family as outlandish.
00:54 Michael filed a petition in a Tennessee court on Aug. 14, claiming that when he was in high
00:59 school, Sean and Leigh-Anne "falsely advised him to sign a document that made them his
01:05 conservators, giving them legal power to complete business deals in his name."
01:10 Orr also claims in the petition that the Toohey's negotiated contracts for themselves and their
01:15 two children to receive $225,000, plus a percentage of the Blind Side's net proceeds, while he
01:24 says he received no compensation.
01:26 However, in an interview with the Daily Memphian, Sean says, "We didn't make any money off the
01:32 movie," instead sharing that Michael Lewis, who wrote the book the film is based on, split
01:37 the profits, adding, "Everybody in the family got an equal share, including Michael.
01:43 It was about $14,000 each."
01:46 In a statement provided by his attorney to E! News, Michael spoke out after his lawsuit
01:50 filing, sharing, "I am disheartened by the revelation shared in the lawsuit today."
01:55 He adds, "This is a difficult situation for my family and me."
