00:00 I thought WrestleMania 38 was great.
00:03 I'm sure it helped that I was there live, but even watching it back made me feel all
00:06 warm and fuzzy in my tum tum.
00:08 Like all events though, there are some things that WWE will want to move on from as quickly
00:12 as possible, so let's help them with that by talking about them.

00:19 This is 10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About WrestleMania 38.
00:24 10.
00:25 Rick Boogs' Injury
00:26 In reality, we should not forget about this because Rick Boogs needs all our thoughts
00:29 and good wishes, but this was such a horrible way to start the WrestleMania weekend.
00:34 Coming in with some serious momentum, Rick went to do some of his power offence on The
00:38 Usos when his knee buckled.
00:40 It looked like it was all part of the plan, but when he rolled out of the ring with a
00:43 trainer holding up the dreaded X sign, it was clear something had gone awry.
00:47 As it turned out, Boogs had torn his quad and had surgery the following day, and the
00:50 fallout from this.
00:52 Shinsuke Nakamura and The Usos cut 9 minutes off the match and went straight to the finish,
00:56 but even then.
00:57 Jimmy and Jey hit the 1D onto Shinsuke to retain their Smackdown titles, but there's
01:02 every chance we were going to do a championship change here and couldn't.
01:05 I'm sure Rick would like to forget about this, but again, let's all send positive
01:08 thoughts his way.
01:09 I'm sure we all look forward to having him back.

01:13 Wretched Weekend For The New Day
01:14 Sometimes it does not pay to be constantly entertaining.
01:18 I can only assume that WWE knows no matter what they do with the New Day, they're
01:22 going to be beloved, and therefore they had their match cut from WrestleMania Night One.
01:27 Rubbish.
01:28 Now, thankfully Mania is two nights these days, meaning there was time to get Kofi Kingston
01:31 and Xavier Wood onto the show, but man, this did not go well.
01:35 Their entrance took longer than the match itself, because in 1 minute 44 seconds Sheamus
01:40 and Rich Holland had defeated them.
01:42 This sucked.
01:43 It was even worse because of course the New Day were dedicating their performance to Big
01:46 E who had broken his neck during the build, and nobody should have to go through this.
01:51 It was a right slap in the face, and I'm still sad about it.
01:54 8.
01:55 Broken Mousetrap
01:56 I loved everything between Sami Zayn and Johnny Knoxville.
01:59 It was pitched perfectly with some genuine laugh out loud moments, and I will never forget
02:03 the reaction for Wee Man.
02:05 It was ridiculous.
02:07 Given there were so many props involved, you just knew one wasn't going to work correctly,
02:10 and sadly it was the last one on the list.
02:13 Knoxville's idea was to trap Sami in a giant mousetrap because of course it was, and yet
02:17 when he went to activate it, well it didn't work.
02:20 This was a proper time stand still moment too, because you can see Johnny searching
02:24 his mind trying to figure it out, and when he did get it working, well it was a little
02:28 bit naff.
02:29 It was obvious there was not enough pressure here to capture Zayn and he could easily escape,
02:32 but as that wasn't part of the story, we just had to pretend it wasn't true.
02:36 In reality this did add to how stupid it all was, but as ever, if WWE could do this again,
02:41 they most certainly would.
02:42 You don't want equipment malfunctioning, whatever the reason, but honestly, please
02:46 do more nonsense like this.
02:48 It was wonderful.
02:49 7.
02:50 Gable Steveson's Odd Saturday
02:52 Everybody in AT&T Stadium thought this was weird, and that's because it was weird.
02:56 I get WWE wanting to make a big deal of Gable Steveson as they have huge plans for the man,
03:01 and what we did on Sunday was great.
03:03 He threw Chad Gable around, showed off his power, celebrated with the good guys, nice
03:08 and simple stuff.
03:09 But on the night prior, somebody thought it would be a good idea for Stephanie McMahon
03:12 to walk out, introduce him, and then just leave.
03:16 People in the crowd were audibly saying "let him speak, please let him speak, oh speak",
03:21 so when he didn't it really fell flat, because what was the point?
03:24 Thankfully Sunday's home run came after this so we actually did forget, but this was
03:28 dumb.
03:29 Although it won't be as dumb as when Chad Gable loses his first name completely, because
03:32 I tell you, it is going to happen.
03:35 6.
03:36 Vince McMahon beats Pat McAfee
03:37 There is no point in me pretending otherwise.
03:40 I thought this was genius, the definition of sports entertainment at its best.
03:44 I mean who actually thought that Vince McMahon was going to have a match with Pat McAfee
03:48 at WrestleMania?
03:49 Even when it leaked beforehand we all fobbed off the idea because there was no way, and
03:53 yet here he was, black tank top and all, ready to throw some truly hilarious clotheslines.
03:57 I honestly think for a 76 year old man he did himself proud, but yeah.
04:02 Was there a need to have him pin McAfee who had just given a tremendous account of himself
04:05 against Austin Theory?
04:06 No, not at all, but this was only ever going to go one way.
04:10 It gets even funnier when you remember that McMahon has lost every single other time he
04:14 stepped into the ring at Mania, but look.
04:16 Seconds later Steve Austin was out for the highlight of the weekend, and this whole segment
04:20 was some of the best wrestling I've ever seen live.
04:23 5.
04:24 Steve Austin S-Bomb
04:25 As the story goes, when Steve Austin was rehearsing his WrestleMania entrance he kept flipping
04:29 the bird after climbing the ropes.
04:31 The producers soon told him he couldn't do that because times had changed, Austin agreed,
04:36 and then he did it anyway because of course he did.
04:38 Therefore it should come as no surprise on the night that when addressing Kevin Owens,
04:42 Stone Cold called him a sack of shib.
04:44 You could just see the scene in your mind's eye as producers went crazy backstage, and
04:48 after the fact this word magically disappeared from any replays, but oh how I laughed.
04:52 You do always run the risk with this as WWE is still a PG product, and I don't think
04:56 we have anything to worry about.
04:59 Austin generated so much interest and cash for two days of work I would assume he got
05:02 away with it, and even if he didn't, he will not care.
05:06 4.
05:07 Edge vs AJ Styles
05:08 So this is a controversial one.
05:10 I lean towards the side of positivity because I thought it was a very well worked match
05:14 that actually played better on TV than it did live, Edge and AJ Styles are just so good
05:19 at what they do.
05:20 The problem, and where WWE wants you to forget, is that not everybody felt this way.
05:25 In fact expectations were so high there was quite a vocal group who decided this didn't
05:29 hit where it should have done, and that the reason for that was because both guys were
05:32 hamstrung by the WWE style.
05:34 Now there isn't arguing to be had there because the company can sometimes handcuff performers
05:38 too much, but I bet there would have been less reaction to this if we weren't talking
05:42 about two guys that rank amongst the best ever.
05:45 The distraction finish didn't help either as Mania matches should really feel different
05:48 from something on Raw, and not in my wildest dreams did I ever think we'd be arguing
05:53 over the merits of this.
05:54 I mean it was on everybody's most wanted list for ages.
05:57 3.
05:58 Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar
05:59 Because it just didn't live up to the hype.
06:01 WWE had done a great job with the build to this, but when push came to shove it fell
06:05 into exactly the same pattern that Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar always do, and that was fine,
06:10 but on this night fine wasn't going to cut it.
06:12 The real issue was in the weeks prior Roman had started to act all paranoid about The
06:16 Beast, and yet here all that fear was out the window and we just started to hit finishing
06:20 moves.
06:21 You could probably argue that they've just clashed too many times, but there definitely
06:24 was some potential here to do something different and we didn't, I don't really get why.
06:29 The winning spear also fell out of nowhere which is not what you want from your Mania
06:32 main event, so ultimately this just didn't hit.
06:35 And that doesn't mean they didn't try, because they did, but still, it was middling
06:39 at best and this was the main event of WrestleMania.
06:42 2.
06:43 The Wardrobe Malfunction
06:44 I just want to say it is beyond stupid that certain areas of the internet still jump on
06:48 this in 2022.
06:49 But yes, on the network there was a brief blackout as Charlotte Flair battled Ronda
06:54 Rousey because some clothing went awry.
06:56 I'm not going to say anything more about it because you know what I'm talking about,
07:00 but of course WWE would want you to forget about this.
07:03 The End.
07:04 3.
07:05 Stone Cold's Vince McMahon Stunner
07:06 Although I promise that I'm never going to forget about it.
07:09 The equivalent of trying to plug anything in via USB, seeing Austin legitimately struggle
07:13 to stun Vince McMahon was one of the best things I have ever seen in my life.
07:17 It was made even better by the fact Stone Cold was laughing his ass off afterwards and
07:21 the whole thing was just a joy.
07:23 Even McMahon himself got this as it was reported he was totally fine with the botch as long
07:26 as people found it entertaining, and I tell you, I really did.
07:30 I mean who wants a normal run of the mill stunner when we can have this gem instead?
07:34 The WWE production team also did a great job in making it look passable in after the fact
07:38 videos but seriously, what a damn moment and I am never going to forget about it for all
07:44 the right and for all the wrong reasons.
