The medical director where nurse Lucy Letby murdered seven babies says lessons ‘continue to be learned’. Dr Nigel Scawn of the Countess of Chester Hospital was speaking after a jury convicted the 33-year-old nurse on seven counts of murder and seven counts of attempted murder during 2015-2016 – and revealed that hospital staff are ‘devastated’. 00:00 I speak for the whole Trust when I say how deeply saddened and appalled we are at Lucy
00:05 Letby's crimes. We are extremely sorry that these crimes were committed at our hospital
00:11 and our thoughts continue to be with all the families and loved ones of the babies who came
00:17 to harm or who died. We cannot begin to understand what they have been through.
00:25 This case has had a profound impact on our patients and our local community and also our staff
00:32 who come to work every day determined to provide safe and high quality care for all of our patients.

00:45 and we are committed to ensuring that lessons continue to be learned.
00:52 We are grateful for the cooperation of our staff especially those that have maintained the utmost
00:58 professionalism whilst giving evidence in this trial, sometimes on multiple occasions.
