Interview with Syracuse QB Carlos Del Rio-Wilson
Transcript
00:00 a full team period, you were pretty comfortable in the pocket.
00:02 How comfortable are you so far in training camp through these last few weeks?
00:05 >> I'm very comfortable.
00:08 I would say one thing playing a role in my comfortability is just knowing
00:12 the offense, knowing that those other ten guys around you got your back,
00:15 knowing that they're gonna complete their assignments,
00:18 knowing that you will complete yours.
00:20 So that definitely plays a role in quarterback just sitting back there
00:24 being comfortable.
00:25 >> Had a lot of really good connections with the receivers today.
00:27 Damian told me a little bit ago that you've grown up a lot already in these
00:30 three weeks.
00:31 What are some of the other receivers that you feel like you have a pretty good
00:33 connection with so far?
00:35 >> I would say all the receivers, honestly.
00:38 I'm one of those guys who's, I trained with the first team, second team, third,
00:42 and fourth string just because I know how it feels to be fourth string or
00:46 third string in that position.
00:48 And I know they still need work because some of them are just young, but
00:52 once they get to this age, they definitely will be those guys.
00:55 So I wanna make sure I'm the one making sure that they're getting ready right now.
00:59 So when they already got this fast tempo, fast speed,
01:03 knowing everything that they got at a high percentage of completions with them.
01:09 >> How supportive has Garrett been throughout this entire process with you?
01:11 You got a lot of reps in the spring, now him coming back.
01:13 What's that been like for you?
01:15 >> He's been very supportive.
01:16 It's been great.
01:17 I don't know if y'all seen the last play.
01:21 It was some things he may not be able to do under the circumstances right now.
01:26 It's not more of a hate competition where he'll just try to force himself to stay.
01:31 And he'll tell me, he'll come take this one for me.
01:34 I'll go in, take it, and put him right back in.
01:36 So he's been very supportive to me this whole camp.
01:40 >> I saw while we were waiting, you were talking to Coach Bavers over there.
01:43 >> Yeah. >> How happy has he been with your
01:44 progression throughout the training camp?
01:46 >> He's been real happy.
01:47 He's been very happy.
01:48 He was just telling me I need to step it up a little bit more.
01:51 He said he's been seeing the progress, but progress and you can never stop.
01:57 You definitely gotta be consistent with it.
01:59 You can always get better.
02:00 You can never be at the top best.
02:03 It's always something you can get better.
02:05 So he was just putting that in my head for long term, making sure I'm staying on it.
02:09 >> What else have you guys done?
