How close are the New York Giants to resoling their starting OL questions?
Transcript
00:00 So what exactly is up with the New York Giants offensive line?
00:03 Is the coaching staff really still trying to figure out the best combination along the interior,
00:08 or do they already know and are simply just getting guys experience at other positions in the event of injury?
00:14 The truth probably lies somewhere in the middle in that the coaches likely don't want to put anything in concrete just yet
00:20 so as not to give the Dallas Cowboys, their week one opponents, any more extra time than necessary to start game planning against a unit.
00:28 And a side benefit of such a strategy simply means that the coaches are getting a long enough look at what they have
00:34 in an attempt to find the best five and the best three or four to back them up.
00:39 So how close then are the Giants to finding those answers?
00:43 Well, after a dozen or so training camp practices and one preseason game, some of it is starting to crystallize,
00:49 while some spots, such as swing tackle, remains a concern.
00:53 The Giants are hoping to gain more clarity regarding the questions that they still have Friday against the Panthers in their home preseason opener,
01:01 because it doesn't matter how many stellar skill position players a team adds,
01:06 if the offensive line becomes a seed, then the offense is going to struggle to reach its full potential.
