00:00 Touch gloves if you want to, if not, go back to your corner.
00:04 - First fight of the night, scheduled for four rounds.
00:07 Ryan Schwartzberg and Tristan Gallichan.
00:12 Here we go.
00:15 It's time to fight.
00:17 Both men in the black trunks.
00:20 Red corner held by Tristan Gallichan,
00:23 thus the red wraps and the red gloves with the blue wraps,
00:26 supported by the lion, Ryan Schwartzberg.
00:29 (crowd chattering)
00:31 - Gallichan only in his second pro fight here.
00:35 He made his pro debut here at Pro Box TV a few weeks ago.
00:40 Schwartzberg actually trains in my gym,
00:45 you know, better in 14 fights.
00:47 You know, even though he has 11 losses,
00:49 he's actually coming off of a upset victory
00:51 over seven and O fighter in his very last fight.
00:53 So this is a, no easy fights here at Pro Box TV,
00:57 even for a one and O guy like Gallichan.
01:00 - And of course we have talked about the Davis brothers.
01:03 He shot the Olympian.
01:05 Schwartzberg has shared the ring with Kelvin Davis.
01:09 - Don't throw that elbow.
01:10 - And Schwartzberg's not a guy who just comes to lay down.
01:12 You know, you look at his record, he can be deceiving.
01:14 He's going to make you work.
01:15 So if you are a fake prospect or a prospect that is a little
01:19 bit on his nerves, you know, you could end up in a tough fight.
01:21 If you just got one pro fight,
01:23 it's a guy with a lot of experience, Schwartzberg.
01:25 - Experience is experience.
01:26 It's one of the most important parts of the sport.
01:29 We'll go right hand there for Gallichan.
01:31 And Schwartzberg definitely has the experience.
01:34 He's a tough, rough guy.
01:35 You can see the way he comes, he's coming out.
01:37 - No punches, no punches.
01:38 Watch that looping punch.
01:39 - Not acting like an opponent early in round number one.
01:42 - Yeah, I think Schwartzberg himself knows that,
01:44 you know, he's got a guy with not a lot of pro experience.
01:46 Maybe he's a little wet behind the ears.
01:48 Maybe he tried to get on him early and cause that him
01:50 to become a little bit unnerved.
01:52 - And you talked about Chris,
01:54 the recent victory for Ryan Schwartzberg
01:56 over seven and O Christian Rivera.
01:59 That's got to boost your confidence massively.
02:02 - Oh, absolutely.
02:03 I mean, I know Schwartzberg.
02:04 You know, like I said, he's come to spar at our gym
02:06 a few times over in Boca from a neighboring Dania Beach,
02:10 but he's a guy who learns on the job.
02:13 You know, he's picking up his professional boxing experience.
02:15 He's fought in many different combat sports.
02:18 And yeah, you're absolutely right Goldie.
02:19 I mean, coming off a win of an undefeated prospect,
02:21 that's got to give you some juice coming in here tonight.
02:24 - And that lion, Ryan Schwartzberg,
02:26 has tamed his mane, if you will, Paulie,
02:29 a little bit since the last time he was here.
02:31 - Oh yeah.
02:32 Got that little bit of a Tommy Morrison look.
02:33 - Yeah, right?
02:34 - That's right.
02:35 Very well put.
02:36 - Wonder if he has that left hook like Tommy.
02:37 - Well, let's wait and see.
02:39 Scheduled for four rounds
02:41 in the super lightweight division.
02:44 Black gloves, red wrap for Tristan Gallichan.
02:49 Ryan Schwartzberg in the red gloves, blue wrap.
02:52 Great to be here as always on a Wednesday night
02:58 with my powerful partners,
02:59 the Magic Man, Paulie Malignaggi,
03:02 and fellow former world champion, Chris Algieri.
03:05 - I had mentioned that Schwartzberg had fought
03:09 in several different combat arts.
03:10 You see him stepping through sometimes.
03:12 That's something you see sometimes in kickboxing,
03:13 MMA guys, as they throw punches,
03:16 they kind of end up in the opposite stance.
03:17 - Yeah, you can see that, Chris, it's a good point.
03:20 And he's throwing a punch as he's changing stance as well.
03:23 - Good.
03:29 Nice and calm, good.
03:31 Good, you're stabbing that body.
03:32 I need that right hand behind that stab.
03:34 Mix it up.
03:35 You hit that right hand nice to the body.
03:37 - Oh yeah.
03:39 Look at me.
03:39 Don't let it be shot with all your might.
03:41 - You're starting to find your punches now.
03:43 Good.
03:43 Now you're starting to hit his abs.
03:45 Hey, he's mean, but he's smart.
03:47 - A little bit more, just a little bit.
03:49 - Yes, sir.
03:54 - Ryan Schwartzberg, as Chris talked about,
04:08 had a total of seven mixed martial arts fights,
04:12 five amateur, two professional.
04:16 Round two, Tristan Gallichan, Ryan Schwartzberg,
04:20 scheduled for four.
04:22 The Lion, Ryan Schwartzberg,
04:25 and the Red Gloves, Blue Wrap.
04:28 I guess he's got a little bit of a design
04:31 on his black shorts, solid black shorts,
04:34 for Tristan Gallichan.
04:37 - Schwartzberg landed a really nice overhand right
04:39 to start this round.
04:41 He's doing a good job of changing levels,
04:42 punching down, punching up,
04:44 switching sides.
04:45 - Switching stance.
04:46 - It's difficult.
04:47 - Yeah, an awkward opponent for your second pro fight,
04:49 for Gallichan.
04:50 You know, it's like, Schwartzberg is here to not only fight,
04:53 but he's also doing it in an awkward fashion.
04:56 Makes him tough to time.
04:57 - Yeah, we always say it,
05:00 there's no easy fights here at Pro Box TV.
05:01 Even a guy with 11 losses to come here to win.
05:04 - You see him trying to fire over the top.
05:07 He's trying to even time Gallichan.
05:08 - Oh, nice catch there.
05:14 Good left hook upstairs, partially blocked by Schwartzberg.
05:17 - Gallichan, sorry, Paulie, 27 years old.
05:23 - I think Gallichan would be better off
05:24 just to try to keep it simple.
05:25 He's looking for right hands, looking for hooks.
05:27 You beat a guy like Schwartzberg,
05:28 snapping out jabs and keeping it simple
05:30 and sort of walking him into shots
05:32 because he's, you try to time him,
05:34 he's not an easy guy to time.
05:35 And if you try to hit him with complicated shots,
05:36 he makes awkward defensive moves.
05:38 So you end up complicating your own life.
05:41 Sometimes that KISS method works against guys like this,
05:43 that keep it simple, stupid.
05:44 - You're absolutely right.
05:46 You can't anticipate a guy like Schwartzberg movement
05:47 'cause he's really not doing things right.
05:49 You expect the guy to slip one way,
05:50 but he's going the other way and throwing an awkward punch.
05:53 - I don't even think Schwartzberg
05:55 anticipated he was gonna do the next thing.
05:57 - Or what stance he's gonna come out in.
05:59 - And I think now as we've lightened up
06:05 as coaches in this world, it's keep it simple, son,
06:09 as opposed to what it used to be, right?
06:10 - Oh, yeah, I know, all right.
06:11 - Everything's gotta be proper.
06:12 - All right, thanks, Goldie.
06:13 - Yeah, not that I would say that to my hockey players
06:16 when I was coaching them, but you know.
06:18 - Yeah, no, I'll keep that in mind though.
06:19 It's a good point.
06:20 - There you go, Goldie,
06:22 staying politically correct these days.
06:23 Gotta appreciate that.
06:24 Thanks, partner.
06:24 - You know me.
06:25 I'm a Switzerland buddy.
06:26 (both laughing)
06:28 - Hard thing to do in this boxing world.
06:29 - Yes, it is.
06:30 Under a minute, round number two.
06:33 First fight of the night here on Pro Box TV,
06:36 your boxing channel.
06:37 - There goes Gallich again,
06:38 trying for that big overhand right from far away.
06:41 - You know, it's hard to look good against Schwarzberg,
06:43 but he's not making it easier on himself.
06:46 - But also, you see why we keep inviting
06:48 guys like Schwarzberg back.
06:49 I mean, he's gonna push these young prospects.
06:51 Definitely upset-minded, like you said, Goldie.
06:54 I think he's feeling confident
06:56 after coming off that win in his last bout.
06:58 - And for someone who's kind of crossed over,
07:03 as you mentioned earlier, Chris,
07:06 to beat an undefeated fighter like he did
07:08 has to make you think in your own mind,
07:10 all right, I can do this, I can be successful at this.
07:13 - Absolutely, especially for a guy like Schwarzberg,
07:15 who's learning on the job.
07:17 He's learning as his pro career goes,
07:18 so he really doesn't know what his ceiling is.
07:21 - And remember, Gallich's one and oh,
07:22 Schwarzberg's coming over a win over a guy--
07:24 - Seven and oh. - Seven and oh.
07:25 He's thinking to himself, I can beat this guy.
07:27 - There's that big right hand over the top
07:35 that I had mentioned.
07:36 That was right at the start of round number two,
07:37 you saw the little words from Schwarzberg too.
07:40 He said, "Come on, let's go."
07:42 - There's a hook from Gallich in there.
07:44 It's that right hook of Schwarzberg
07:48 against the left hook of Gallich,
07:49 and it's a nice little combination.
07:50 Simple, but you see the simple combination
07:52 is what worked there for Gallich.
07:53 A little one-two-one.
07:54 I think little shots like that
07:56 will simplify things for Gallich,
07:57 but he doesn't stick with it.
07:59 - And also, champ, he took the power off that.
08:01 I think that was smart.
08:02 You don't wanna load up with a guy
08:03 who's loading up with you.
08:05 - Seconds out!
08:07 - Midway through our first fight of the night.
08:09 Scheduled for four rounds.
08:12 33-year-old Ryan Schwarzberg
08:14 against 27-year-old Tristan Gallichan.
08:19 Schwarzberg comes out in the southpaw stance
08:22 at the start of round number three.
08:24 Schwarzberg in the red gloves, blue wrap.
08:29 Black gloves, red wrap.
08:31 Both men in black trunks.
08:33 Big swing and a miss.
08:37 Ryan, always known as a warrior.
08:40 Little bit of a switch hitter, as we talked about.
08:44 Some of that from the MMA background.
08:47 And you can use the word awkward,
08:49 or like we've talked about before, Paulie,
08:51 you could say unorthodox.
08:53 It sounds a little prettier,
08:55 and it sounds a little bit more punishing.
08:58 - Yeah, yeah, and you know what?
08:59 So far, a decent start to the round for him.
09:01 - I was gonna say, it hasn't been ineffective,
09:04 the switching from Schwarzberg.
09:06 He's making it uncomfortable enough for Gallichan.
09:10 - Yeah, and also Gallichan not keeping busy,
09:12 not keeping him busy,
09:13 because he's looking for the complicated shots,
09:14 and they're not there, so he ends up not keeping busy.
09:16 Nice little left hook again for Gallichan.
09:18 That might be his best weapon he's had so far.
09:21 Gotta watch the clashes of heads there.
09:23 But he's also not keeping a busy pace,
09:25 which could also make Schwarzberg uncomfortable.
09:27 And the reason he's not keeping a busy pace
09:29 is 'cause he's looking for the complicated shots
09:31 instead of the simple ones.
09:32 - Gallichan very bladed in his stance.
09:36 He's had a standout amateur career,
09:38 trying to get things going as a professional.
09:43 You talk about the tough start for Schwarzberg,
09:45 but now he has won one of his--
09:47 two of his last three fights.
09:49 The most recent is we talked about, Paul,
09:51 the one over an unbeaten fighter.
09:53 - Yeah, I'll tell you what,
09:54 the hard fight is here again here,
09:55 is the constant clashes of heads,
09:56 and Schwarzberg is flying in with his head.
09:58 You see the cut on the side of the head of Gallichan.
10:02 - Yeah, that's bleeding down,
10:03 and he's away from his eye.
10:04 - And this is also because you've fought this kind of fight
10:07 with Schwarzberg, and he's kept a positive pace.
10:10 He's kept a positive outlook on the fight,
10:12 and Schwarzberg, so he's able to fly in like this.
10:13 'Cause if you domesticate an opponent like this
10:15 early in the fight, by round three,
10:17 he's in your pocket already, you know what I mean?
10:18 Like, you got him in your-- you got him controlled.
10:21 But Schwarzberg is not under control,
10:22 because he hasn't--
10:23 Gallichan has not earned his respect to this point,
10:25 so he's still flying in,
10:26 and now Wanda Gallichan has this cut.
10:28 - So would you say that Schwarzberg
10:30 is currently out of pocket?
10:31 - Yeah. (both laughing)
10:33 - There you go! There you go, Jim, exactly.
10:36 - And you know there's significant
10:39 mixed martial arts experience, Chris,
10:41 when you go on BoxRec,
10:42 and one of the links for Ryan Schwarzberg
10:45 is mixedmartialarts.com.
10:47 - Yeah, exactly. (laughing)
10:48 And we're seeing it.
10:50 We're seeing in the way he's throwing his punches,
10:52 where they're coming from.
10:53 But I will say, he has improved quite a bit.
10:55 His hand position is much better.
10:57 They're coming back to home,
10:58 which is where he's been catching
10:59 a lot of those left hooks on the outside.
11:00 That one got through.
11:01 - That's right hand there for Gallichan,
11:03 and he's got a lot of pads, of course, on the end.
11:04 - And that's enough.
11:05 When you got a guy like Schwarzberg
11:07 who's throwing these looping shots,
11:08 if you pull away, you get hit on the end of the punch.
11:09 If you stay in the pocket, you get headbutted.
11:11 So it's really, it's a tough style of dealing.
11:13 - He's got a little bit of a left wing thing going, Goldie.
11:14 - Yes, he does, yes.
11:16 - I've seen a couple of elbows, couple of headbutts.
11:18 - The art of nine limbs, as it is.
11:21 As we will see LT smash Nelson tomorrow night, Paulie.
11:24 - Yeah, oh yeah.
11:25 (bell dinging)
11:26 A good one.
11:27 (crowd cheering)
11:30 (crowd applauding)
11:33 - Talk about that clash of heads,
11:37 and they've been banging heads together.
11:39 See Schwarzberg flying in,
11:41 and actually it's Gallichan who comes up
11:44 after dipping low, comes up,
11:45 and Schwarzberg was flying in, and the clash of heads.
11:48 - Generally when you see cuts in the scalp,
11:51 it's from headbutts.
11:52 - Bone to bone, elbow or headbutt.
11:54 - Gloves rarely do that.
11:56 - Yeah, 'cause it's usually a bone to bone thing.
11:57 - Yeah.
11:59 - But also not in a bad place.
12:00 It might look ugly, you're gonna see some gore,
12:03 but that's not gonna really affect the fight.
12:05 - But you do gotta be careful for other headbutts,
12:07 because they are consistently happening.
12:09 - Getting set for the fourth and final round.
12:14 - Say what you will for Schwarzberg and his effort tonight,
12:17 he's very confident coming into this fourth round.
12:20 - This fight be, you know, we're scoring here,
12:24 you know, because I'm telling you,
12:25 every round has been competitive.
12:28 - Orthodox start for the fourth round
12:31 by the lion, Ryan Schwarzberg.
12:34 - And Galachan has done a lot of what you saw a few seconds
12:36 where he's just kind of bouncing around
12:37 and not really setting anything up, you know?
12:39 - He's trying to back out with that slapping left hook now,
12:41 that's been one of the more effective attacks
12:44 from Galachan all night.
12:46 - You see he's forced a lot of right hands,
12:48 the jab is almost non-existent.
12:49 - Good attempt there from Schwarzberg.
12:52 - Slapping left hook,
12:53 but not quite the Stockton slap, right Chris?
12:55 - No, not like we saw last week.
12:58 We should have trademarked it 'cause I came up with it.
13:00 - Oh, big right hand there.
13:02 Big right hand there from Schwarzberg,
13:03 backs Galachan up.
13:04 Galachan smart, steps back to the center of the ring.
13:09 - I tell you man, Schwarzberg coming off that
13:11 win over Seven Nose is confident.
13:13 Again, a simple combination for Galachan
13:15 and you see he lands it.
13:16 This could have been the ticket to an easier victory
13:18 all night for Galachan, but he did not keep up with it.
13:23 - Schwarzberg mentally shows no lack of effort,
13:28 no lack of intensity.
13:31 And once again, shows us his warrior spirit.
13:35 - I can speak to seeing it personally.
13:38 Schwarzberg is in shape.
13:40 He's been in the gym for weeks and months at a time now
13:43 and I've seen him do six, seven, eight rounds at a clip
13:46 with multiple guys.
13:47 Man came in shape.
13:50 Oh, timing right slapping hook there from Schwarzberg.
13:54 - From the Southpaw stance.
13:55 - And again, it's 'cause Galachan reaching in
13:57 with that right hand.
13:58 - Galachan, as you both have talked about,
14:06 has not set up a lot of his shots here tonight,
14:09 which is why Schwarzberg really is fighting
14:12 without a lot of fear.
14:13 - And what's getting more disappointing about Galachan
14:15 is there's no urgency here.
14:16 It seems like Schwarzberg, Schwarzberg with a three
14:18 and 11 record is fighting with more urgency
14:19 than a kid wanna know.
14:20 He's supposed to have his whole career
14:21 set in front of him, you know?
14:23 - Goldie, you said the magic word a few moments ago,
14:25 effort, the effort is coming from Schwarzberg
14:28 each and every round.
14:29 - 45 seconds on the clock here.
14:34 Fourth and final round, our first of three fights
14:38 on Wednesday night.
14:39 - And that jab to the stomach that Galachan,
14:41 he basically put a stamp on it.
14:43 He's basically mailing it in.
14:44 He's coming in so slow.
14:45 - Final 30 seconds.
14:47 - I think he's a little gun shy
14:48 because of the awkwardness of Schwarzberg
14:52 and where those punches are coming from.
14:54 I'm gonna age myself a little bit here.
14:57 I'm getting shades of Patrick Swayze in "Road House"
15:00 from Schwarzberg right now.
15:03 - Oh, it's better than the new "Road House."
15:05 - Why?
15:06 It's not gonna talk about that.
15:09 - Okay, Paulie.
15:10 Like that wasn't obvious.
15:12 - I'm a Patrick Swayze guy, come on.
15:15 - Ooh, big right hand there for Galachan.
15:16 - Crazy for Swayze, right?
15:17 Schwarzberg closes it strongly as well.
15:20 - This is gonna be an interesting scorecard.
15:22 - And he'll probably take Patrick Swayze
15:24 over Tommy Morrison as far as looks too.
15:27 - Yeah, I would.
15:28 - But Morrison, you know.
15:29 - Not that Tommy wasn't a good looking guy.
15:31 That's a good point, champ.
15:32 (laughing)
15:34 (speaking in foreign language)
15:37 - Yeah. - At least in their primes.
15:39 - Paulie won nothing over both of us, Chris.
15:44 Better than the new "Road House."
15:45 (laughing)
15:47 - No way he's talking about some Notorious dude.
15:49 Now look it up.
15:50 - Also though, when I seen some of the remakes,
15:53 I'm kind of always a fan of the old ones, you know?
15:55 Like "Point Break" as well with Quijano Reeves
15:57 is way better than the one they made a few years ago.
15:59 - Here we see some of the action here.
16:01 Both men trading.
16:02 There's a big right hand from Schwarzberg.
16:04 That was early in round number two.
16:05 There we see that left hook,
16:06 which probably the most consistent weapon
16:08 that Galachan was able to land throughout the night.
16:10 As you mentioned, champ, no sign of the jab from Galachan,
16:14 even though he has got a pretty decent amateur background.
16:17 (shouting)
16:20 - And what's more disappointing is the urgency.
16:22 You see Schwarzberg's the one
16:23 that chased the fight later on,
16:25 even though he didn't land everything,
16:26 he chased and made the fight.
16:27 There's a little right hook
16:29 from the awkward change of stance of Schwarzberg.
16:31 And you saw just a lot of posing on the part of Galachan.
16:36 And you see Schwarzberg just throwing him any which way,
16:38 but again, putting Galachan out of position,
16:41 making him feel, get on the defensive.
16:44 - You mentioned it though.
16:45 You got a guy who's 311 and two,
16:46 that's a 16 fight professional record
16:49 against a guy, you know, one and O.
16:50 That's a big ask for the new pro Galachan.
16:54 - But in the very least, you're the new pro,
16:56 you have to fight your way to it.
16:57 You look good next time, but make sure you win.
16:59 - The new pro with a good amateur background.
17:01 - Yeah, and Galachan just kind of, you know,
17:04 was all right with this, not controlling the pace,
17:08 not controlling the fight, you know.
17:09 In the very least, I say, okay, I'll look good next time,
17:12 but let me actually fight this guy
17:14 and make sure I win the fight.
17:15 - And if Schwarzberg does get his arm raised,
17:17 it will be three of the last four
17:20 in which he has been victorious.
17:22 - Let's see, it's gonna be close.
17:24 - We'll find out the official decision is in.
17:26 Here is Mark Lichtenfeld.
17:27 - Ladies and gentlemen, after four rounds of boxing,
17:34 we go to the scorecards.
17:35 Tito Wilgos scores the bout 40 to 36, Galachan.
17:41 Jed O'Connor and Michael Ross both score the bout 38.
17:46 38, we have a majority draw.
17:50 El combate es un empate.
17:52 - Draw's not bad, you know, every round was close.
17:56 One guy missed a fight.
17:57 It's always a shame when one guy's sitting ringside
17:58 like that, he actually gets hired to judge the fight
18:00 and somehow he misses it.
18:02 It's always a shame, with Tito Wilgos or something,
18:04 I don't know what the name of the judge is,
18:05 but that was, I mean, 40-36.
18:08 That's one of those, like, I wanna ask guys like that,
