Catastrophic wildfire ravages homes in Saint-Andre

Homes have been severely burned by a wildfire which broke out between Saint Andre and Argeles-sur-Mer in the south of France on Monday, 14 August.

The blaze has impacted 30 homes, eight seriously, as well as a business and a campsire, France Bleu Roussillon reported.

It burned through 500 hectares of land and forced the evacuation of at least 2,000 people before it was brought under control on Tuesday.

French environment minister Christophe Bechu said climate change exacerbated conditions of drought that fed the fire.
