On a bright sunny day in Nottingham, India’s captain Virat Kohli won the toss & elected to bowl in the first ODI against England. The pitch looked flat & with the last two scores at the ground, England was expected to score above 300 easily. In walked Kuldeep Yadav & like the 1st T20 in Old Trafford created havoc for the English batsman. Joe Root again was his bunny for the second time in three balls he’s faced from him. His figures of 6/25 was the fourth best by an Indian in ODIs. Chasing a meagre target of 269, India was of to a scintillating start with opener Dhawan & Rohit Sharma. Sharma continued his ominous form & brought up his consecutive 100th on English soil alongside Virat Kohli. The Indian skipper scored his 47th ODI fifty before getting stumped for 75. He is averaging close to 159 in ODIs in 2018 so far. Eventually India won by 8 wickets to take the lead in the 3-match ODI series.
