00:00 New York City, I wanna thank you for hip-hop.
00:03 It allowed me to be who I am right now.
00:06 I'ma do it live at NYC.
00:09 And this is how it be, yo, I gotta let the verse rain.
00:12 I'm giving it up for hip-hop's birthday,
00:14 50th anniversary.
00:16 Let the verses sing.
00:17 Y'all know me out there.
00:19 I'ma by the name of Lupe Fiasco.
00:22 Uh, let the city hear that first name.
00:25 But for me, I think hip-hop is something that
00:28 really has brought a voice to people
00:30 that originally didn't have a voice,
00:32 you know what I'm saying?
00:33 So it speaks to me.
00:34 I think growing up, it was something
00:36 that was always special to me.
00:37 So we were willing to make that trip
00:39 and make it happen, for sure.
00:41 It means coming together, it means unity,
00:43 it means supporting all the artists
00:45 that have come, you know, through,
00:47 through the years.
00:48 That's what it means to me.
00:50 So if you're ready to have a little bit of fun
00:52 with me right now, somebody say yeah!
00:54 Yeah!
00:57 Here we go!
00:59 Let's go New York!
01:03 My only memories are just a bunch of people,
01:13 the speakers, the music, and people dancing.
01:16 You know, I was too young to really realize
01:19 what the impact would be, you know, moving forward.
01:23 This whole culture came a long, long way,
01:26 as you can see, and it's all about
01:28 peace, love, and unity.
01:30 You know, I'm 55 years old, I remember when
01:32 they said rap was going to last for five,
01:34 maybe four years.
01:35 It's 50, as you can see, and everybody's
01:37 out here celebrating.
01:38 It's worldwide.
01:40 [Music]
01:45 Bye bye !
