01:46 First, regarding the schools that were affected by the typhoon.
01:50 President Marcos said that the government is continuing to fix these schools.
01:55 According to Deputy Secretary Sara, the priority is to repair the schools that were affected by the typhoon.
02:01 If the repairs do not reach the opening on August 29, the blended learning program will be implemented here
02:07 so that there is no hindrance in the children's learning.
02:10 The first K-12 or K-10 curriculum or a stable curriculum of the DepEd was also discussed.
02:19 Hi Mr. President, good morning. Hi VP Sara, good morning.
02:22 Sir, can we get your reaction or comment on the launching of DepEd of the Matatag curriculum, sir?
02:27 That is very significant because here we are trying to fix the curriculum so that it will be more suitable for the children of the Philippines.
02:43 We are also working on the Matatag curriculum which includes all our efforts to improve our international schools,
02:53 especially when it comes to STEM, the so-called STEM subjects.
02:58 Also, we are giving the opportunity to those who are choosing to do vocational or technical training after 10th grade.
03:14 So that's more or less the big system changes that we are doing.
03:19 First, we are increasing the number of learning competencies from approximately 11,000 to 3,000.
03:29 In the key stages, from grade 1 to 3, we used to have 7 subjects, but now we have 5 subjects with a focus on math and reading.
03:41 And then, we will introduce science in grade 4.
03:44 President Marcos also said that they are still discussing the return of pre-pandemic scheduling of classes.
03:55 The President admitted that it is not that simple because of climate change.
03:59 They will look at what is best for students, teachers, and the students' families.
04:04 Angelic Aldo, in talking about the increase in salary for teachers, VP and Secretary Sara Duterte, ordered the President to sit down and study
04:14 on how teachers and non-teaching personnel should raise their salaries.
04:19 They are waiting for the results of this study, including the effect of inflation, the increase in the price of goods, and other economic indicators.
04:28 And that's the news from Manila, Angelic Aldo.
04:31 Okay, thank you very much, Alan Francisco.
