00:00 So this is a sequence where Dhawan and Rachel
00:03 kind of are free falling from the chopper
00:06 in the middle of the atmosphere.
00:07 They're actually just like fighting
00:09 in the middle of the air.
00:10 So it's quite intense.
00:12 - Go away!
00:13 - Okay, so I'm afraid to hurt you.
00:16 - Oh, you can't hurt me, I don't like you.
00:18 - You're an angel.

00:21 Heart of Stone is my first Hollywood film.
00:24 It's my first English language film.
00:26 It's my first action film.
00:27 It's also the first film I shot
00:29 when I was pregnant for the first time.
00:31 So honestly, a lot of firsts.
00:33 (indistinct)
00:36 So a typical day on set works like this.
00:38 So usually you arrive on set
00:41 and you head straight for hair and makeup.
00:43 Everybody gets their makeup done together.
00:45 You get into costume, you get mic'd,
00:47 and then you wait to be called on to set
00:49 until your shot is ready.
00:51 So we are shooting in an abandoned,
00:54 sort of old, run down, used to be a hospital.
00:57 This sequence is basically like the charter safe house.
01:01 We don't know why it's in an abandoned hospital.
01:04 So we have cameras set up and it's Gaal's shot.
01:07 I'm not in frame, but I'm here for cues.
01:09 And then that's the director's set up
01:11 and the monitor where he sits.
01:13 He's very close to us so that he can give notes
01:16 and like, it's very quick.
01:18 I met Gaal the first time.
01:21 We were supposed to start shooting in a couple of months
01:24 and she was extremely warm, classic Gaal,
01:27 like just like really lovely,
01:29 talking to me like she's known me for years.
01:31 I was very nervous before,
01:33 but she completely put me to ease
01:36 and made it so comfortable.
01:37 And one of the key things I remember during that meeting
01:39 was she asked Tom, she asked me,
01:40 "Would you like a cup of coffee?"
01:43 So I said, "Yeah."
01:43 Here I was thinking she's gonna call some assistant
01:46 and ask them to, but she went herself
01:49 and she made the coffee and she brought it to us.

01:57 - I think my favorite scene
02:00 when Kea and Rachel are abandoned together in the desert,
02:05 they have nowhere to go
02:06 and they're just kind of stuck with each other.
02:08 We're shooting the scene where Kea and Stone
02:12 are in the desert and they're walking and they're talking.
02:14 The interesting thing is it's really cold outside,
02:17 but it's really hot inside.
02:18 Tom, our director, wants to recreate
02:20 the exact feel of the desert.
02:22 So it's hot and it's humid, it's dry, we're sweating,
02:26 and there's hot wind and dust going into our eyes,
02:29 so it literally feels like we're right there.
02:31 We've got a couple of scenes to do today.
02:33 There is a little hold up,
02:34 which happens a lot on a film set.
02:37 You have to just wait.
02:38 I learned very early on in my career
02:40 that a lot of acting is just waiting.
02:43 That can mean many things,
02:45 like waiting for the right film,
02:46 waiting for the shot, waiting for something special,
02:50 just waiting and waiting.
02:51 Most of the time, most of the time, the wait is worth it.
02:55 I think every film set has the same energy,
03:00 and the energy being, honestly, strangers coming together,
03:05 becoming a family, working towards one vision,
03:08 one idea, one story, and just giving it their all
03:12 on a daily basis and putting that before themselves.
03:14 I think that is the story of every film set
03:17 in every language around the world.
03:20 (upbeat music)
