10 Wrestlers You'll Never See In AEW

00:00 From controversial tag teams pissing off the folks providing the platform, to one-time
00:05 All Elite teasers looking very much content to round off their careers elsewhere, these
00:10 wrestlers just don't look destined for Wednesday and Friday nights on TBS and TNT, respectively.
00:16 Gareth here from WhatCulture Wrestling and here are 10 Wrestlers You'll Never See in
00:20 AEW.
00:21 10.
00:22 Killer Kross and Scarlett With the AEW president Tony Khan's recent
00:27 acquisition of the Ring of Honor promotion, came with it a boatload of speculation as
00:31 to what would happen to the many well-known wrestlers very much linked to the brand at
00:35 the time of buying.
00:36 And while TK didn't change too much coming into Ring of Honor's already announced and
00:40 promoted Supercard of Honor show set for April 1st, aside from pumping a ton of All Elite
00:45 talent onto the car to hopefully boost ticket selling and streaming numbers, one of the
00:49 only alterations the AEW leader made involved a former NXT champion and his missus being
00:55 left at home.
00:56 Both Killer Kross and Scarlett were said to be expected to appear on the show, but all
01:00 talk of their arrival soon extinguished on the back of Khan's purchase of ROH.
01:05 The AEW boss would add that he liked both talents a lot when talking about their absence
01:09 later down the road.
01:10 But the fact Khan didn't move mountains to bring Kross in particular on board for his
01:14 new project speaks volumes about the control your narrative workers' chances of arriving
01:18 on Khan's mothership any time soon.
01:21 9.
01:22 Seth Rollins Seth Rollins would clearly add a ton of value
01:25 to just about any promotion on planet Earth, but that doesn't necessarily mean either
01:29 the star himself or Khan would be in the mood or position to play ball with one another
01:33 as of recording for a number of reasons.
01:36 First of all, Rollins has very much been a WWE guy for the duration of his time in the
01:40 mainstream, jumping at the chance to throw shade at Khan's company whenever it arises,
01:45 even recently claiming that AEW's routine mentions of his current employer are tacky
01:49 and lowbrow.
01:50 Tell us how you really feel, Seth.
01:52 On top of this, both Rollins and WWE seem very happy to continue on with their working
01:55 relationship at this moment in time, with McMahon frequently finding new ways to keep
02:00 his visionary looking strong, despite not occupying a spot in the main event for much
02:04 of the last few years.
02:06 He likes his Seth, and he's gonna keep all of him.
02:08 8.
02:09 Becky Lynch I could quite honestly just copy and paste
02:12 the aforementioned Seth Rollins entry right here.
02:14 Yet where the man's husband hasn't been treated to many long-running world title reigns,
02:18 or quite the same level of attention and protection as Becky Lynch in recent times, Big Time Bex
02:23 has felt like the biggest star WWE has to offer since the minute she arrived back on
02:27 the scene at Summerslam 2021.
02:29 So, to expect WWE to simply allow Lynch's contract to run down, and pat her on the back
02:34 for her service as she trades Monday Night Red for Wednesday Night Black and Gold, would
02:38 be fanciful thinking at best.
02:40 That's not to say that Lynch isn't a fan of WWE's biggest rivals though, with the
02:43 former Raw Women's Champion revealing as recently as last year that she keeps up with
02:48 Kay's promotion.
02:49 Always got an eye on the competition.
02:50 However, as long as Lynch feels like bossing the women's division for a living, it's
02:54 a safe bet to assume she won't be passing up on her big money and creatively fulfilling
02:58 role as a key part of Vinnie Mac's ever-growing machine.
03:02 7.
03:03 Braun Strowman Turning many ahead upon becoming part of WWE's
03:06 often baffling set of wholesale cuts throughout 2021, Braun Strowman's sudden departure
03:12 from Vinnie Mac's empire resulted in a ton of questions over what the future would hold
03:16 for a performer seemingly tailor-made for the sports entertainment juggernaut.
03:20 The short answer?
03:21 Well, becoming a founding father of a wrestling promotion that allows you to be in control,
03:26 but not to throw any superkicks, tope suicidas or Canadian destroyers, you dumb marks.
03:31 And on top of spearheading what would like to be seen as a potential rival to Tony Khan's
03:35 promotion, Adam Scherz's recent comments aimed at the bot-obsessed AEW president seem
03:40 to have pretty much cemented his status as an all-elite outsider for the foreseeable.
03:45 In the midst of one of his typically comical social media dumps, the one-time Universal
03:48 Champion accused TK of paying dirt sheets in response to the aforementioned independent
03:53 study tweet.
03:54 So, it's safe to assume this monster among men won't be flipping any AEW production
03:58 trucks in the coming years.
04:00 6.
04:01 Tapp Dalla Another performer who absolutely incinerated
04:04 the all-elite bridge in recent times, Hossod takes up a spot on the ludicrously long list
04:09 of WWE departures that went down last year.
04:12 Back when the one-time Hoss mouthpiece of Hit Row clearly felt he was destined for a
04:15 long and fruitful run inside of the Land of the Giants, Tapp Dalla took a few ill-advised
04:20 shots at AEW EVP's Matt and Nick Jackson on Twitter.
04:24 Mocking the young bucks for only wearing sneakers on camera to seem cool and hip, the brief
04:28 Smackdown star soon felt the sting of a buck Twitter bio that read "Spent more on sneakers
04:33 in September than the entire NXT roster did in response."
04:37 With Max Caster also weighing in with a rap aimed at Tapp Dalla and NXT shortly after,
04:42 former TNT champion Sammy Guevara's tongue-in-cheek but still notable answer of "never" when
04:47 asked on a livestream when the loudmouth former NXT man would arrive in AEW, tells the story
04:51 of a roster who evidently aren't in a rush to let bygones be bygones.
04:55 Tapp Dalla is all-elite?
04:56 Not nada.
04:57 5.
04:58 The Briscoe Brothers Their recent throwdown opposite all-elite tag
05:02 team Pillars FTR may have stolen many a positive headline, and perhaps carved itself out as
05:06 an early match of the year contender.
05:08 But that still doesn't erase the fact that the Briscoe Brothers have seemingly already
05:12 blacklisted themselves from their new employers, Pride and Joy.
05:15 On the back of a number of homophobic tweets from Jay Briscoe being unearthed from back
05:19 in 2013, Fightful reported that a person of real influence was completely against the
05:24 former ROH World Tag Team Champions "rocking up in the land of all-elite", according
05:28 to a WarnerMedia source.
05:30 It's worth noting that a public apology has since been released by the team, but it
05:34 still looks like Khan won't be intent on taking a risk on the pair, or pissing off
05:37 those above him giving the promotion a televised platform for the sake of a few dream matches
05:42 in an already stacked all-elite tag division.
05:44 So expect these two to stay put in Khan's new era of honour.
05:48 4.
05:49 Tessa Blanchard Keeping in the vein of stars who are likely
05:51 seen as more trouble than they're worth in the grand scheme of things at this moment
05:54 in time, the daughter of regular all-elite on-screen personality Tully Blanchard was
05:59 actually once heavily rumoured to be AEW-bound sooner rather than later.
06:03 However, as the months would trickle by throughout 2021, it quickly became clear that both AEW
06:08 and WWE wanted absolutely nothing to do with a talent described as being "nuclear".
06:12 Since being released by Impact Wrestling in June 2020, the controversial figure has all
06:16 but disappeared from the wrestling landscape.
06:18 But that still didn't stop AEW fans from chanting her name at All Out 2021, though
06:23 it's worth noting that those calls of "We want Tessa" were met with "No, we don't"
06:27 chants on the night too.
06:28 Also, back when the star accused of racist actions towards La Rosa Negra in January 2020
06:34 and racial slurs during a Japan tour was hotly linked to the promotion, AEW's women's
06:38 division wasn't anywhere near as strong as the one we see today.
06:42 Nowadays, TK isn't in any desperate need for more female star power, so a Tessa punt
06:47 has never looked less likely to go down.
06:49 3.
06:50 Randy Orton Never one to shy away from having a bit of
06:53 fun at the expense of those who live to fantasise about a star's future online, Randy Orton
06:58 set the old interweb on fire back in October 2019 by posing next to an Elite sign and captioning
07:03 an Instagram post with the words "Tik Tok, Tik Tok".
07:07 This of course turned out to be nothing more than exactly that, a bit of cheeky fun.
07:11 And in the years since his All Elite tease, Orton has since penned a new deal with his
07:14 long-time employers, and appears to be settling down to see out the rest of his in-ring days
07:19 as an integral part of world wrestling entertainment.
07:22 As recently as this year's WrestleMania 38 weekend, The Viper would also comment on
07:26 said AEW wink on the Pat McAfee Show, stating "That was just the internet and everybody."
07:31 And I just kinda sat back and was like "Oh, this is interesting, I never said that."
07:35 Here I am, my contracts open in a couple of years, and I'll sign another one.
07:38 I love this place, I love getting to do sugar honey ice tea like this.
07:44 With Orton looking forward to 10 more WrestleManias before his time in the ring is done, a one-time,
07:49 mouth-watering All Elite ship looks to have all but officially sailed.
07:53 2.
07:54 AJ Styles In an alternate universe, it appears WWE's
07:57 resident Phenomena One could have been the name on just about everyone's lips, as AEW
08:02 Dynamite officially got underway in October 2019.
08:05 As Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter would later confirm, a pitch to
08:09 have the Good Brothers and AJ Styles come in and kickstart AEW's first real faction
08:14 war with the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega was seriously considered for the first-ever episode
08:18 of the Wednesday Night Delight.
08:20 But with Styles and Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson ultimately staying put, before the latter
08:24 duo would part ways with WWE in 2020, said plans were shelved in favour of the newly
08:29 formed Inner Circle closing the show.
08:31 And for those hoping to one day see the former WWE, IWGP and TNA heavyweight champions show
08:36 up in TK's company before calling it a day, Styles' recent decision to extend his stay
08:41 within Vinnie Matt's company and declaration that he doesn't want to have to work anywhere
08:44 else, looks to have pretty much closed the door on that long-awaited Bullet Club storyline
08:49 under the AEW banner.
08:51 In short, he don't want none.
08:53 1.
08:54 Roman Reigns In a time when many who seemed certain to
08:56 join the WWE lifers club have been given their marching orders or decided to call it a day
09:01 on the back of a disappointing run within the promotion, betting on just about any name
09:05 currently plying their trade in the organisation to never show up in another promotion would
09:09 be foolish at best.
09:11 That being said, alongside the aforementioned Viper, the current reigning, defending, undisputed
09:15 WWE Universal Champion of the World in this universe and the next universe and the multiverse
09:19 and yourverse and myverse, blowing a kiss to the Chairman of the Board en route to settling
09:24 into a new seat at the head of the All Elite table is a visual you can safely predict will
09:28 never see the light of day.
09:30 Aside from being a homegrown project that has seen the likes of John Cena, The Undertaker,
09:34 Brock Lesnar, Goldberg and many, many more sacrificed in order to finally build him into
09:39 the one true focal point of the WWE empire, Reigns' routine bashing of the enemy and
09:44 current vein of form as arguably the most compelling character the often stale WWE landscape
09:48 has seen in an age have cemented the Tribal Chief as a prized possession Vince McMahon
09:53 will move mountains to retain at all costs.
09:56 It's Roman's Empire, and we're just living in it.
09:59 And that's our list!
