Transcript
00:00 I think two really good football teams, very talented football teams,
00:09 will face each other.
00:11 We watched Chelsea on the tour, whatever we could get from there,
00:15 from the last games they played, the Dortmund game, the Newcastle game.
00:19 A lot of good things. You can see that it's a really talented team,
00:24 after a disappointing season, it's all clear, so they want to show up, definitely.
00:28 New manager, top manager, so they will show up. We have to be ready.
00:33 He's one of the best, top five world managers,
00:37 I have a very good relationship with him, he was so nice when I left Tottenham,
00:43 one of the best messages I received.
00:47 I know his team, very good relationship,
00:51 and then he's doing a fantastic job in Liverpool.
00:55 He destroyed the Premier League Championship,
00:59 since day one, win, win, win, win, it's so difficult in this competition,
01:05 and in the finest style, the proper style from Bini,
01:09 so he's doing an incredible job and I'm pretty sure he's going to do it really well.
01:13 It will be a tough, tough game, especially at the beginning of the season,
01:18 especially for the Champions League teams, it's always so difficult,
01:21 because you need some time to reset, to really know,
01:25 'Oh, we have to come back to where we were,' and that is a question of time.
01:31 One thing is sure, our team will get better,
01:35 from this day all the way across the season,
01:39 that's one thing I'm sure of, the team will get better, just because of the way we work.
01:44 But we have to be ready tomorrow, and that's the reality of the job.
01:48 I don't try and assess too much where Man City are right now.
01:51 They did it in a really clever way, and they deserved it today, to get the points,
01:55 and tomorrow we're going to have to play better and deserve more.
01:58 It's a team that is extremely well organised,
02:01 and what they've done last season, especially the way they started,
02:04 and how they adapted to the league and other qualities is remarkable,
02:10 so they've done really well.
02:11 The league's not going to wait for us, it starts on Sunday, so we have to be ready for it.
02:15 Obviously it's a great test for us, Brentford away is tough for anybody in the league,
02:22 they showed that last year, and I think you've seen growth in their team every year,
02:25 they've been in the Premier League,
02:27 they've made some really astute signings to strengthen in the areas they need to,
02:33 it's going to be a great challenge for us.
02:35 We are ready, we want to go in the fight,
02:38 we are really looking forward, the team is really energetic,
02:44 the lads really worked very well during the pre-season, and we're going for it.
02:49 We have to look at our own, so we prepare the game,
02:54 and if that doesn't change, that makes it easy,
02:57 so I never look to an opponent, I respect them, we analyse them,
03:03 but it's always about how we play against that opponent, so it's up to us.
03:07 After viewing them last season, obviously at the end of pre-season you're never quite sure,
03:10 equally they won't be sure about us either.
03:13 We'll wait and see, but they had a very strong season last season,
03:16 they've still got some very good players,
03:18 so we have to be ready for every challenge,
03:20 and we've learnt that, that is something the club's learnt over the last couple of seasons,
03:23 there's absolutely no gimmies in the Premier League,
03:25 it's something I've been preaching for many, many years,
03:27 so you have to be ready for everyone,
03:28 whether it's the first game or the last game, you have to be ready.
