Breaking down Day 12 of the San Francisco 49ers quarterback competition.

00:00 Here's what Brock Purdy, Trey Lance, Sam Darnold, and

00:03 Brandon Allen did on day 12 of 49ers training camp.

00:07 Brock Purdy, he had a typical Brock Purdy practice.

00:10 Nine of 16 with two touchdowns in the red zone and

00:13 an interception to a linebacker near midfield.

00:16 Which means Purdy was okay, but not nearly good enough for

00:19 a team that's supposed to win the Super Bowl this season.

00:22 And he was facing the Raiders suspect defense.

00:25 Twice he had opportunities to lead touchdown drives against

00:28 that defense and failed.

00:29 As opposed to Jimmy Garoppolo, who led one impressive

00:32 touchdown drive against the 49ers vaunted defense.

00:35 Which means Garoppolo was better than Purdy today.

00:38 Not great news for the 49ers.

00:42 Trey Lance, he completed six of 12 pass attempts and

00:46 fumbled two snaps.

00:48 The first fumbled snap was Lance's first play of practice.

00:51 The next play was a false start.

00:53 After that, Kyle Shanahan immediately benched Lance and

00:56 replaced him with Sam Darnold, who's terrible.

01:01 Lance spent the rest of the morning working with the third

01:03 stringers, which is a slap in his face.

01:06 Still, he led a long drive at the end of practice and

01:09 should have finished it with a pretty touchdown pass to

01:11 Cameron Latsu.

01:12 But Latsu dropped it, which is what he usually does when

01:15 someone throws in the ball.

01:16 Sam Darnold, he completed one of three pass attempts during

01:20 11 on 11 team drills.

01:22 He also scrambled a couple times and

01:24 looked completely confused in the pocket.

01:27 Darnold is decent if his first read is open.

01:30 But if he's covered, Darnold will just stare at him and

01:33 hope that he'll get open.

01:34 After a few seconds of cheering on his first read,

01:37 Darnold will panic and frantically try to

01:39 find his second read.

01:41 That's why he's awful.

01:42 Brandon Allen, he didn't get to practice during 11 on 11s.

01:47 I'm outraged.
