We got the chance to hang out with Travis Pastrana at MidAmerica Outdoors in Jay, Oklahoma! We hopped into Pastrana’s Can-Am Maverick X3 and pre-ran the Side-by-Side Championship track with him and Terry Madden!

00:06 Travis Pastrana out here, Mid America Outdoors, first round of Nitro Cross.
00:17 We got the Can-Am, kind of a spec series, and this is the Mid America vehicle that's going to be taking all the rides.
00:24 We got a little bit of rain, but still going to be a fun day.
00:26 Round one of the Can-Am Nitro Cross Championship. We got Terry Madden's side-by-side right here.
00:33 This thing's absolutely amazing. It's a spec class for us.
00:36 We want to bring in girls like Leticia, who's an Olympic medalist, as well as some of the top short course racers,
00:44 some of the top motocrossers, the celebrities, whoever is out there.
00:48 We want to bring them in in a vehicle that's competitive with the top of the world.
00:51 The Ben Mayers, the 14-year-olds that are absolutely phenomenal and crushing it.
00:56 The Brian Deegans, you name it, they've been in one of these Can-Ams over the Nitro Cross Championship.
01:01 The only thing they really do is use the suspension a little bit lower just to keep the lower center of gravity.
01:07 For someone that's brand new that jumps in, that maybe come from, you know, if they come from Pikes Peak or circuit racing background,
01:13 it's a little bit different with all the suspension in the corners, and they just go to whip it in there.
01:17 This helps it kind of slide.
01:18 We use the Yokohama tires, it's a spec tire, so it gets a little less traction, but it just makes it a little bit more slidey,
01:27 which is kind of what we want for especially the beginner drivers and also even to the expert.
01:32 It just makes it more fun. It's like running on a slick track.
01:34 So, you know, reinforce the roll cage just a little bit because they have a tendency to have some big jumps on the Nitro Cross tracks,
01:42 and a lot of the people that come in to race, pretty much everyone from your normal car background doesn't know much about jumping,
01:49 unless you have a motocross background.
01:50 So, you know, there tends to be some bumps and bruises out there, but these are really safe stock.
01:56 We got a great seat in there.
01:57 Usually, we don't have a passenger seat, but because this is the mid-America car, this is what we do all of our test rides in.
02:03 If I'm going to go out and do a test lap, I'll jump in or Terry will jump in, and we can put, you know,
02:08 everyone that we want to in the passenger seat. Super smooth with suspension that these vehicles have.
02:13 Like I said, a little bit lower, a little bit stiffer, a little bit of reinforced cage in a seat,
02:18 and other than that, it's just a stock spec class, and they're within two seconds of the thousand horsepower supercars on these tracks,
02:26 which is pretty amazing for a vehicle that is literally one-thirtieth the price point and durable as anything you'll ever drive.
02:35 Here we are, mid-America, the first ever purpose-built nitro cross track.
02:39 Eventually, we're going to have everything out here from shifter carts and supermoto, can-ams, electric thousand horsepower supercars with the FC1X.
02:48 It's going to be the best of the best, so much fun.
02:51 This has been a dream come true to be able to have carte blanche, to build whatever we want,
02:56 and to make the ultimate track for basically rallycross. It's going to be a lot of fun.
