Glasgow headlines 9 August: Woman charged after taking child on quad bike

A woman from Drumchapel has been charged after being caught riding a quad bike with a young child on the front.

Officers from the community policing team stopped the woman and seized the quad bike.

The incident sparked a safety warning from Glasgow City police, who took to social media calling for people to ‘be safe’ and ‘not risk the safety of children or others’.

Next up, staff at three Glasgow care homes may be set to strike following claims that new owners have attempted to cut wages and disregard the trade union.

GMB Scotland is balloting members from Ballieston Care Home, Cardonald Care Home and Stobhill Care Home on proposals.

And in other news, a new mural has appeared on George Street to celebrate the city hosting the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships.

Commissioned by the city council, the work was created by artists from the SWG3’s Yardworks project, and was inspired by retro cycling jerseys and 90s kids’ bikes.
