Edinburgh Airport bring in specialist couriers to tackle baggage chaos

Bosses at Edinburgh airport have brought in specialist couriers to help tackle ongoing problems with luggage as some passengers face delays of up to two weeks getting their bags.

The terminal has been ‘flooded’ with piles of unclaimed luggage for days, as persistent delays see passengers forced to go home without their items.

00:32 My bags didn't arrive because we had a delayed flight and a connection issue in Toronto,
00:37 which was fine and we didn't expect the bags to be there on the carousel that day.
00:42 I got home, filed the reports and since then, two weeks, we've had absolutely no communication.
00:50 Numerous emails on a daily basis, numerous phone calls never answered,
00:54 numerous voicemail messages, no communication whatsoever.
00:59 Last Saturday, I actually came through the airport to look for the bags myself.
01:04 Nothing again.
01:06 And so today, my wife and I have decided to come through and we're just going to wait here at the door
01:10 until our bags are finally returned to us.
01:15 The domestic arrivals were pretty bad on Saturday night.
01:19 There was, I'm going to guess, two, three hundred cases sitting around.
01:22 That was last Saturday.
01:25 But it was money well spent if I had got my bags, but unfortunately I didn't.
01:36 In the same way as my tram ticket today cost me £10 to get here from Inglesam Park and Ride,
01:41 which is absolutely shameful as well.
01:44 However, it's a price I'm willing to pay to get these bags back.
