00:00 Oh my God, my life is over.
00:02 I used to see in color and now everything is gray.
00:06 How could you do this to me?
00:09 Kelly Ripa is recalling an awkward encounter
00:12 she had with her daughter, Lola Consuelos.
00:14 In the latest episode of her Let's Talk Off Camera podcast,
00:18 the 52 year old talk show host hilariously recalled the two times
00:22 her 22 year old daughter has walked in on her and her husband,
00:25 Mark Consuelos, having sex.
00:28 So the first time we were in Italy with our parents
00:31 and our children on what I like to call the non vacation.
00:36 It was allegedly a vacation, but it was really something.
00:40 It was three small children and it was Lola's eighth birthday.
00:45 Her age is important because apparently every eight years
00:50 she walks in on us.
00:51 No.
00:52 And so we had this cockamamie.
00:55 There were two doors. The first door didn't lock.
00:58 But the second door, you had to make sure you pulled and locked.
01:01 And I said to Mark, did you lock that?
01:03 Oh, no. And he said, yes.
01:05 And I said, are you sure? Because it sticks.
01:08 And he's like, you don't have to tell me more than once.
01:10 He got very finicky that I was telling him something more than once.
01:15 When talking about that awkward run in, Kelly admitted
01:18 it was one of the few moments she and Mark had alone on the trip
01:21 and they thought everyone was asleep.
01:24 Mark and I went to bed and he's like, it's now or never.
01:27 So I encourage him to lock that second door.
01:32 And he tells me he did.
01:34 And all I know is at a certain point, I made eye contact
01:38 with my eight year old daughter who was standing at the foot of the bed.
01:41 Oh, my God. And Mark vanished.
01:45 I don't know where he went.
01:46 I didn't know if he somehow was hanging from the ceiling.
01:50 He just vanished. I don't know where he went.
01:54 So now I'm looking at Lola, who's looking at me and she's like, I'm thirsty.
01:58 I was like, me too.
02:00 After that awkward moment, Kelly did her best to try to explain
02:04 the situation to her then eight year old daughter.
02:06 I said, sometimes mommy and daddy like to have special grown up time.
02:11 You know, basically, I I talked to her until I watched her eyes glaze over.
02:19 And then I put her back in her bedroom and I tucked her in.
02:24 But that wasn't the only time Lola walked in on her parents having sex.
02:29 Kelly says the same thing happened eight years later on her 16th birthday.
02:34 And literally like the same exact thing where she just threw the door open.
02:38 This time she said, Oh, my God.
02:41 Oh, my God. My life is over.
02:44 I used to see in color and now everything is gray.
02:48 How could you do this to me on my birthday?
02:52 What is wrong with your people?
02:54 And so the moral of the story is she never learned to.
02:57 Kelly never shies away from talking about family life, and she and Mark
03:03 recently made their 27 year long relationship a TV partnership to
03:07 the Riverdale alum officially joined his wife on her talk show
03:10 live with Kelly and Mark back in April, taking over for her longtime
03:14 co-host Ryan Seacrest.
03:16 AXIS Hollywood was there on the day of their first official show,
03:19 and we spoke to Kelly and Mark right after they wrapped.
03:22 Mark, what was the best tip that Kelly gave you for coming out today?
03:25 Just be yourself.
03:26 Enjoy the moment.
03:27 Be in the moment because that's what the show is.
03:29 You know, it's especially the first 20 minutes.
03:32 We had great things to talk about.
03:35 And just having her next to me is always just, you know, very reassuring.
03:39 Great review from you, Kelly.
03:41 How do you think he did?
03:42 He's I mean, he knocked it out of the park like he always does.
03:45 Like 10 out of 10, 100 out of 100.
03:48 I don't know what the I don't know, like what our scale is.
03:51 But, you know, Mark has done this so many times in the past
03:56 that it just feels very normal.
03:58 It felt normal.
04:00 I know the producers were thrilled because they did not have to teach
04:03 a co-host how to be a co-host.
04:05 And I think it's the first time we've ever had to do that here
04:08 where our co-host came in knowing the drill
04:13 and it can be very disquieting for a new person to come in.
04:16 And Mark has done this routine so many times.
04:20 I get the rhythm.
04:21 I've been you know, I know the rhythm, the rhythm of the show and how it works.
04:24 So it was definitely an advantage.
