Detective Inspector Steve Kilsby, head of the serious collision unit
Transcript
00:00 I'm here this morning with Detective Inspector Steve Kilsby and we are at a car park in Leicester.
00:08 Why are we here today Steve and what are we doing specifically with this car?
00:11 Yeah so we're here for the summer drink driving campaign so people are drinking drugs so making
00:16 sure people are safe on the roads and not using drinking drugs on wheel.
00:20 This particular car though, if you just come around here, we've seized this one because
00:25 as well as educating drivers around the dangers of drink driving and using drugs, we do safety
00:30 checks on the car so this one as you can see there's no tread on the tyre so you've got
00:34 this thread that's coming straight through the wheel here, completely unsafe.
00:39 This particular vehicle also hasn't had an MOT for over 12 months.
00:42 If it had an MOT then the garage would obviously refuse it and it would fail the MOT and also
00:47 it hadn't had any tax for two months so this is another vehicle that we're going to take
00:51 off the road, it's not safe and it's just what I say to people, make sure that when
00:55 you're checking your vehicle on a weekly basis, turn the wheels out so you can see the tread
01:00 but this is completely unsafe and that's what we're doing to educate around safety on vehicles
01:04 as well.
01:05 Thank you very much Steve for your time.
01:06 No problem.
