00:00 There are still floods in some schools on the first day of enrollment in public schools.
00:04 And because only three weeks before the school starts,
00:07 will everyone be able to attend class?
00:10 That's what June Veneration is aiming for.
00:12 In this situation,
00:17 the flood reached Calizon Elementary School here in Calumpit, Bulacan.
00:22 When the storm hit,
00:24 more than five floors were flooded.
00:26 Many things were damaged, including the modules that were flooded.
00:30 Before the flood came, we were going to the upper floors of each room.
00:33 On the first day and second day, it was okay.
00:36 On the third day, it suddenly got worse.
00:37 We were already submerged.
00:38 The DepEd in the school has promised
00:40 to replace the flooded modules and other damaged rooms.
00:44 But they might not be able to attend classes on August 29.
00:49 If it won't reach, even for a week,
00:52 we might be able to attend Saturday class or we might be able to attend extension class.
00:57 I hope the flood will be gone
00:59 so that we can study.
01:03 Even though the Hagonay East Central School is not that high,
01:07 it is also serving as an evacuation center.
01:09 In total, three classrooms for Grade 1 students
01:13 of Hagonay East Central School are still submerged in the flood.
01:17 Because of the repeated problems,
01:19 the school administration's plan for the incoming school year
01:22 is to transfer the students to other schools.
01:26 There will also be a shift.
01:28 Some will go to school in the morning,
01:30 some will go to school in the afternoon.
01:32 But even before now,
01:33 15 classrooms were abandoned for a long time
01:36 because of the flood all year round.
01:38 We were submerged.
01:41 When we were writing, we were careful with our notebook.
01:46 Because?
01:47 We might drop it.
01:49 We will embrace everything that is happening.
01:52 At the same time,
01:54 we are asking the DepEd,
01:57 the Department of Education,
01:59 for the help and support to us.
02:01 Because more than 353 classrooms were flooded by the Ege and Falcon,
02:06 DepEd issued 2 billion pesos for repairs.
02:10 They are the priority
02:12 in our disaster funds for repairs.
02:16 If it doesn't reach the opening of classes,
02:19 we have a blended learning modality that they can use.
02:23 In other public schools,
02:25 the opening of the Brigada Escuela and enrollment continues today.
02:30 For GMA Integrated News,
02:32 June Veneracion, 24 hours.
