00:00 Angus Cloud's work will live on.
00:03 Before his untimely death, the Euphoria actor reportedly finished filming his role in an
00:08 upcoming thriller movie, according to multiple publications.
00:12 The untitled Universal movie is directed by Scream directors and is set to release in
00:17 April 2024, per Variety.
00:20 Access Hollywood has reached out for comment.
00:23 On Monday, Cloud's family confirmed his passing in a statement issued to Access Hollywood,
00:28 revealing that the late actor died shortly after his father passed away.
00:32 "It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today.
00:37 As an artist, a friend, a brother and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many
00:42 ways.
00:43 Last week he buried his father and intensely struggled with his loss.
00:46 The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his
00:51 best friend.
00:52 Angus was open about his battle with mental health, and we hope that his passing can be
00:56 a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in
01:01 silence," the statement read.
01:03 His cause of death has not been made public at the time, but his reps tell NBC News that
01:08 he passed away at his family's home in Oakland, California.
01:11 Cloud was best known for his role on the hit HBO series, Euphoria.
01:15 Access Hollywood's Zuri Hall spoke to him and his co-stars in January 2022, ahead of
01:20 Euphoria's season two premiere, and he talked about why he thinks the show resonates with
01:25 so many people.
01:26 "Go ahead and kick things off with you, Jacob.
01:29 Obviously this is season two of a really groundbreaking show.
01:33 Obviously Zendaya took the Emmy for that amazing win.
01:35 We were all so excited for her.
01:37 You guys are really pushing, yes, the conversations forward.
01:40 How are you going to up the ante, push those boundaries and continue to resonate in season
01:45 two?"
01:46 "You know, I think the biggest thing was just Sam's writing and prowess.
01:51 None of us have to do anything but show up because he has such a distinct plan and he
01:56 knew what he wanted to do and he knew how he wanted to execute it.
02:00 So pretty much it was just like, come in, be ready and do what's on the paper and just
02:06 sort of trust the process."
02:07 "Yeah, absolutely.
02:08 Angus, talk to me a little bit about the show.
02:11 Obviously covering so many pressures of what teens go through in everyday real life.
02:16 You've got social media, these unrealistic beauty standards, addiction, mental health.
02:21 Why is it such a timely show?
02:23 Why do you think now's the time?
02:25 One that it came on the scene and two, why it resonated so quickly and so deeply for
02:30 so many of us?"
02:31 "Well, I mean, we're in a day and age of where it's like some people literally all they know
02:39 is social media.
02:41 And then I was one of the kids, you know, I was born in '98.
02:46 So I didn't know social media until I became like probably like whatever, 16 or whatever,
02:54 you know what I'm saying?
02:56 So I'm like in between those two worlds, you know, but some people are like, it's so foreign
03:02 to them and the rest that's like, that is their life.
03:06 So like, it's interesting for the people that's foreign to them, it's like, what, this is
03:13 how it is now, you know?"
03:16 "The people that can relate to it, you know, but yeah, a lot of topics are very timely,
03:24 you know, it's definitely going to survive in the film and world like as a piece of the
03:31 times, you know, because it's so relevant right now, you know, with addiction and..."
03:38 "At this point, it is certainly a major issue.
03:41 And it's something that we're seeing in headlines often now, even in Hollywood, right?
03:45 We're reporting on these overdoses and these deaths.
03:47 And the show really does tackle addiction in a really honest and transparent way.
03:52 And in a way that's important so that we can start having these conversations.
03:56 I want Eric and Austin, if you could just jump in on that.
04:00 When we think about all of the topics that Euphoria touches on, everything is so open
04:04 to interpretation based on the viewer, based on who's watching it.
04:07 What do each of you specifically hope that audiences are taking away, just based on your
04:12 personal connection to these stories and to what Euphoria is trying to express?
04:18 Eric, we can kick things off with you.
04:21 I think an understanding that these characters and their behaviors and the mistakes they
04:25 made, there's always moments for redemption.
04:28 I think that's one of the overall themes this season.
04:30 Austin, what do you have to add to that?
04:33 Yeah, I mean, I'm just thinking, I just, when you asked that question, I just thought about
04:39 my character in relation to Barbie, Cat, and I feel like seeing how they're, when they
04:50 actually come together, what their relationship is actually like.
04:53 And hopefully people can relate to that and see themselves in our relationship and maybe
05:03 learn something or maybe see something from a different perspective.
05:07 Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
05:09 So true and well said.
05:10 Jacob, the world has fallen in love with Zendaya's role in Euphoria.
05:15 Obviously Rue is this fascinating, very multi-dimensional character.
05:19 What does that magic feel like on set when you guys are all working with her?
05:23 She's such a talented actress.
05:24 It's like, it's out of this world.
05:25 And then this season, it's like, again, you sit back and you watch it and you're like,
05:31 you know, that's someone who does their work and knows their craft.
05:35 And I've said it before, and I'll quote it directly.
05:37 She literally, she captains the ship.
05:39 She kept, shush dog.
05:41 Hi dog.
05:42 She captains the ship, like, you know, she steers it down the straight.
05:46 She's incredible.
05:47 Yeah, it's really an honor to work with her and it makes the work so much easier, you
05:54 know, because she's doing the acting.
05:58 I just really just got to sit there and react, you know.
06:03 So I'm like blessed, you know.
06:06 Absolutely.
06:07 Yeah, you know, it's the back and forth.
06:10 You need that energy, you know, and she always brings that positive and ready to work hustle
06:18 mindset, you know.
06:19 Yeah, she gives it.
06:20 That's why she got the Emmy.
06:22 It was well earned.
06:23 Well earned.
06:24 Before I let you guys go, I want to really quickly pivot Jacob back to the kissing booth,
06:29 a little retrospection.
06:31 You stole our hearts in the kissing booth.
06:33 And I'm just curious to know what was that like, that overnight success that came with
06:38 it and really just sort of turning into a heartthrob overnight.
06:42 How most did your life change because of that?
06:45 We want to know.
06:47 No, but seriously, like, you know, I get to sit here now with these actors and talk to
06:52 you and I wouldn't I wouldn't be here making movies and TV if I didn't make those movies.
06:58 So I'm just so grateful.
06:59 You know what I mean?
07:00 Yeah, no, absolutely.
07:01 And the gratitude is key.
07:03 I read somewhere that you said that initially when you were, you know, kind of pounding
07:07 the pavement in Hollywood, your height was a deterrent.
07:10 Is that true?
07:11 Did you feel like you had to play down certain aspects of yourself to book roles in the beginning
07:15 of your career?
07:16 Yeah, I was pretty nervous kid.
07:19 Yeah, I was everything worries me.
07:22 Really quickly before I let you guys go, Euphoria is all about, you know, love for one another.
07:28 And then most importantly, if you ask me, self love.
07:31 So I'm curious to know anyone who wants to take this.
07:33 Do any of you have a self love resolution or a love resolution for the new year?
07:38 And I mean that in the most general way.
07:41 I don't make resolutions.
07:42 I think every day is something new.
07:46 Yeah.
07:48 You know, but it starts with yourself.
07:53 You have to love yourself before you can love anything else.
07:56 Truly.
07:57 Absolutely.
07:58 Bless yourself.
07:59 Don't stress yourself.
08:00 Don't stress yourself.
08:01 You feel me?
08:02 A man of that.
08:03 Austin, anything you'd add?
08:04 Yeah, I don't know about resolutions, but it's definitely best to, yeah, accept and
08:09 love yourself as best you can.
08:12 And not, you know, it doesn't really help to like, tear yourself down all day.
08:19 You know, not to say that like, you know, you're not going to get a job.
08:26 But like, you know, being critical can be good, but not to be, because sometimes, you
08:33 know, you can end up being kind of too hard on yourself.
08:39 And then now you're kind of in a loop of just being mad at yourself.
08:45 And that's not really like doing anything except causing pain.
08:48 Yeah.
08:49 Extending grace to yourself.
08:50 Yeah.
08:51 Just being, yeah, being kind to yourself.
08:52 Which, you know, isn't always the easiest thing to do.
09:10 (upbeat music)
