00:00 >> Look like that was the first day Anthony's taken all the first team reps
00:03 consecutively.
00:04 Is that they're continuing to rotate or is that the new plan?
00:07 >> Yeah, no, we had he missed that day with the surgery.
00:09 So we just gotten back to back days.
00:12 >> Got you.
00:13 >> Do you get anything on the force bucking yet?
00:14 >> He has a foot.
00:15 Don't have a foot, yeah.
00:16 >> Where have you seen Anthony make some strides?
00:20 You know, now that you're out here every day,
00:21 you must have just looked like a couple practices a week.
00:23 >> I think just command of the huddle, getting out and being comfortable with
00:26 the system, you know, calling out plays, getting guys lined up.
00:29 You know, we're in second week of training camp and we got a lot to go.
00:32 You know, everyone does and that's where we're at in the process.
00:35 >> Are you able to notice guys adjusting to him,
00:37 getting more comfortable with him so far?
00:39 >> Yeah, no question.
00:39 I think with anything, you know, you're around your teammates more and more.
00:41 They get to know you, get to know your personality and
00:43 I think your guys are adapting to him well.
00:45 >> Is it unique among rookie quarterbacks,
00:48 his ability to kind of be calm in the pocket?
00:51 >> Yeah. >> I've seen that he has a way.
00:52 >> Yeah, no, he's got great pocket presence.
00:54 He was really good in college against the pressure, you know, his feel for
00:57 the pocket and obviously creating those big plays.
00:59 But I like his pocket presence right now and we gotta keep improving.
01:02 >> Do you think needs to happen for
01:04 this offensive line to go back to what it once was?
01:07 >> I think we just gotta work.
01:09 I mean, the secret to success is work.
01:10 We gotta work every single day.
01:11 Fundamentals, technique, and we gotta play together as one unit.
01:14 >> You get that third down run from Anthony today, but
01:16 is that part of his game you really can't drive down here?
01:19 >> Yeah, I mean, sometimes it's hard cuz it's not live, you know, and
01:21 obviously we'll get into game situations, you know, against opponents, you know,
01:24 and we'll get to really see it, but it is still good, right?
01:27 You gotta go through that process and get different looks from the defense and
01:30 see what's happening.
01:31 >> What's been your impression of Drew Ogletree so
01:33 far as he's kinda working back?
01:34 >> Yeah, he's been really impressive, you know, really good route runner.
01:37 He's fast, he's strong, good at the point of attack.
01:40 Really like where he's at.
01:41 >> Shane, do you think you guys will add another running back?
01:44 >> We'll see. We're always evaluating things.
01:45 We're going through that process all the time.
01:47 We're always evaluating every position.
01:48 >> Speaking of Will Mallory today, looked like he had a couple nice grabs.
01:51 >> Yeah, no, shoot, he's coming along good.
01:53 You know, getting him off the P, he can really run.
01:54 You know, he's got good route ability.
01:56 He can run some shallows, some deep over shove, but
01:58 I really like where he's at, he's very good.
02:00 >> Are you getting any closer with Brents getting him back out there?
02:03 >> Yeah, yeah, hopefully sooner than later.
02:05 >> What'd you see from Darrius Rush just being able to practice the-
02:08 >> Yeah, no, it's good to see him out
02:09 there, you know, young guys, those young guys, as much reps as they can get,
02:12 it's gonna make them better, right?
02:13 All rookies getting them reps, getting comfortable with the system, but
02:16 you know, like where he was at.
02:17 >> Is Shaq's next clearance to get into the 11 on 11 a full pass off?
02:23 >> Yeah, that's the thing, we're just ramping him up, we're being smart,
02:25 like I said, we got a process we're going through with him,
02:27 we're keeping him smart, keeping him safe.
02:29 >> Shane, what have you seen from Alec so far?
02:31 >> Alec? >> Alec, yeah.
02:32 >> Yeah, no, shoot, he's explosive.
02:33 Gosh, you know, when I got here watching the tape, you know,
02:36 his deep ball ability, he can really run.
02:38 I just like the way he works.
02:40 You know, obviously going into his second year,
02:42 I'd like to just see him keep climbing every day.
02:44 >> What have you come to appreciate about the physical presence Zaire
02:47 brings to his team?
02:47 >> Yeah, no, he's got great toughness.
02:49 You know, I love his demeanor at practice, the energy he brings, you know,
02:52 obviously in Shaq setting the tone, our defense with Buck and Grove.
02:56 But I really like all those guys, but yeah, Zaire's a great leader for us.
03:00 I'm excited for him this year.
03:01 >> What have you seen from Anthony when he does make a mistake,
03:03 you miss a throw out here, and you guys go back and watch him.
03:06 >> Yeah.
03:06 >> What are those moments like, and do you see him growing?
03:09 >> Yeah, no question.
03:09 I think, you know, you gotta learn from your mistakes.
03:11 It's not gonna always be perfect, right?
03:12 Shoot, he's learning a new system, you know, you got a lot to learn.
03:15 And you go through and you correct those things.
03:17 And he's taking coaching really well.
03:19 He does a great job.
03:20 He's always wanting to learn and listen and ask questions.
03:23 And that's a great sign for quarterbacks.
03:25 >> Shane, week two, what changes, install-wise, smaller games?
03:29 >> Well, I think the only thing, like situationally, we got third downs,
03:31 two minute, we got four minute and backed up next week.
03:34 And then that's it, and then we're re-doing the first thing down.
03:36 Cuz shoot, we got a game next Saturday against Buffalo, so
03:39 we gotta have it all in.
03:40 >> Speaking of the game,
03:41 have you thought too much about how many veterans you're gonna play?
03:44 >> Yeah, we're still working through it.
03:46 >> As you watch tape of the live drills after each day, are there any defenders
03:50 in particular that are kinda making things difficult for
03:52 the offense with regularity?
03:54 >> Yeah, I don't wanna call out one certain guy.
03:56 I mean, everyone's doing a good job as a whole.
03:58 It's always good when you get those three on three live reps just to see
04:01 the physicality and toughness from the young guys.
04:02 I like seeing that, seeing where guys are at.
04:04 >> Any update on JT?
04:05 >> Test and catch there against Zaire.
04:07 Is that something he brings even as a little guy?
04:09 >> Yeah, he's a really crafty route runner.
04:12 You saw him on his college tape and then seeing him out here with these guys,
04:15 it's been impressive.
04:16 And then he's got really good hands, he's explosive, and
04:18 we're happy to have him on our team.
04:20 >> Any update on JT?
04:21 >> Is there anything you and Jim hope to accomplish over the next month of
04:25 the preseason?
04:26 >> Say that again.
04:27 >> Is there anything you and the offensive coordinator hope to accomplish over
04:29 the next month?
04:30 >> Yeah, really, the biggest thing is just I wanna see growth, right?
04:32 Just being efficient on offense, right?
04:34 So shoot, not getting three and outs, you know what I mean?
04:36 Just keeping the ball moving, getting completions,
04:39 running the ball efficiently, and going from there.
04:41 >> What's EJ Speaks?
04:43 >> He's got a plan.
04:45 >> Do you see the wide receiver group gelling with the quarterbacks that you
04:47 might have hoped this fall?
04:48 >> Yeah, I think obviously you got three different quarterbacks,
04:51 you have receivers, you're throwing routes on air and then team drills.
04:53 I mean, that develops over time.
04:55 We had the spring to get that done and now we're in training camp, so
04:58 we're still developing that chemistry.
04:59 >> Jim Papakuda said yesterday you all have about halfway through the install.
05:03 How have you seen the young guys kind of take that on and
05:05 how do you think they'll maybe settle in more when they have?
05:07 >> Yeah, I think once it's all installed, guys will settle down and
05:10 it'll be good.
05:11 We get some call-up periods going to really make these guys think and
05:14 stress them mentally.
05:15 I mean, you got the scripts, we go through scripts and
05:17 walk through all the plays that we're gonna walk through in practice and stuff.
05:19 But once you get to those call-up periods,
05:21 obviously it's good for those guys to stress them mentally.
