00:00 Thank you.
00:12 As Day 3 began, World Youth Day attendees continued participating in a variety of activities,
00:18 including visits to venerate the relics of St. Thérèse of Lisieux.
00:22 The solemn and serene Church of St. Louis of the French has been filled with pilgrims,
00:27 who often write down their intentions and leave them in front of the altar.
00:31 Meanwhile, at the Media Center, some 5,000 journalists are on hand to report on the Pope's
00:37 visit, but also on the lively spirit of the gathered young people who represent more than
00:41 200 nations.
00:43 Today, everyone's attention was on the Welcome Ceremony, where Pope Francis made his first
00:48 World Youth Day appearance.
00:50 It was a festive atmosphere with song, dance, and a symbolic depiction of testimonies from
00:55 young people that describe the situation of the Church around the world and the many difficulties
01:00 facing their generation.
01:02 "God's heart beats uniquely for you," Pope Francis told the joyful crowd.
01:08 He also told them, "We are a community of brothers and sisters of Jesus, sons and daughters
01:13 of the same Father."
