00:00 just talking about the storms and the severe storm threat continues across
00:03 the plains and the central United States and that's where we find
00:07 AccuWeather meteorologist Tony Loback. He's live in Limon, Colorado with more
00:12 and Tony I've seen some of these thunderstorms producing hail and also
00:15 damaging winds. What's the latest situation for you? Well we haven't really
00:24 changed the situation much Justin. We continue to be tracking numerous severe
00:28 thunderstorms across eastern Colorado. You see some of the Mamatas behind me
00:32 just those kind of lumpy clouds that are in the sky. This is on the leading edge
00:36 of the severe storm that is just to the south of I-70 that is making the
00:40 approach to Limon. We're really kind of seeing storms all across the horizon.
00:44 These are the same storms I've been tracking since Bennett. We'll take a look
00:47 back at one of the earlier more suspicious looking moments that we saw as
00:52 we were cruising westbound on I-70 actually heading from Strasburg to
00:56 Bennett. You see that little dust plume there off in the field that looks
00:59 suspicious as we were kind of going through the rain didn't have a really
01:02 great visual on it but once we stopped we noticed that dust plume had no
01:07 rotation to it. So thinking for a second we were seeing maybe the beginning parts
01:11 of a developing landspout but that turned out not to be the case. What ended
01:15 up being the case though was the damaging winds. We did see a 66 mile per
01:19 hour gust with this storm as it worked through Bennett so that's been the
01:23 strongest wind gust that has been recorded out of these storms so far. I
01:26 also saw a little bit of hail up to about nickel size in the Bennett area
01:30 but it was enough at times where it did cover some of the more grassier surfaces.
01:35 Fortunately though did not accumulate on roadways we did not have major issues
01:38 with that. So these storms continue to work their way east. The concern that we
01:43 have tonight is as these storms continue to work their way east we're gonna see
01:47 them kind of congeal into a line in a complex. They'll accelerate we'll see the
01:52 damaging wind threat crank up. We could be looking at wind gusts over 70 miles
01:56 per hour especially as you get further east into Colorado portions of western
02:00 Kansas into southwest Nebraska as we get into the evening. Jeff, Severe
02:04 Thunderstorm Watch in effect for eastern Colorado till about nine o'clock tonight
02:08 would expect to see watches issued further down the line as we go over the
02:12 next couple hours. All right it's gonna be a stormy stretch here through the
02:16 weekend in parts of the central US. Thank you so much there Tony Lawback in
02:19 eastern Colorado and Tony just mentioned the watch so here it is right off the
02:23 bat. Eastern Colorado it does include the Nebraska Panhandle and two counties but
02:28 slightly more populated counties at least Cheyenne home to many folks there
02:32 into parts of southeast Wyoming. All that under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch
02:36 until 9 p.m. Mountain Time. That'll take us all the way through all of Accuweather
