Here's what you had to say about the changes...

00:00 Yeah, so I think that, you know, it is a bit of a weird decision.
00:05 I definitely think that there's lots of other places that, you know, that money could be
00:10 redirected to.
00:13 And yeah, I definitely think that it'll change when I do go out what I will buy because it's,
00:18 you know, it's not fair.
00:20 There's a cost of living crisis as it is at the moment and places like pubs and going
00:25 out to bars and stuff are meant to be like a kind of place where we can just relax and
00:32 just kind of do our thing and having to worry about that on top of the rest of the stuff
00:39 that's going on at the moment is just a bit, just a bit too much really.
00:43 So what's your take on obviously this week Rishi Shunuk has raised put tax on certain
00:49 alcohols so 44% raise in wine and some beers have raised but not on pints.
00:56 Do you drink yourself?
00:57 I do, I do love a drink.
01:01 Judging what's happened with the duty and the tax rises to the alcohol industry, it
01:06 seems a too punitive to the hospitality industry that's been absolutely ravaged through energy
01:12 bills, COVID over the last four to five years.
01:16 And now to heap even more pressure on the industry seems unfair.
01:21 I know there's been an element of moving the tax based on buying from the supermarket and
01:27 consuming at home as opposed to trying to encourage people to still use our fantastic
01:31 pubs and bars etc but it does seem a step too far.
01:37 Also from a wholesaling perspective now the duty on wine has moved to different duties
01:43 per half percent within wine.
01:46 That coupled with the additional paperwork and tariffs involved post Brexit seems double,
01:54 tertiary, quadruple pressure put on an industry that was already struggling.
01:59 So would it put you off sort of ban alcohol or changing what alcohol you drink, sort of
02:03 going to bars even?
02:05 It would change my outlook on who I go support from going out to a bar so trying to keep
02:12 the money in the local economy with the independents as opposed to money being funneled into the
02:17 big massive pub chains and hotel chains etc.
02:20 I think it's even more, now more than ever important that we support the local.
