Catherine Tyldesley has responded after a management company was accused of requesting free cakes for her birthday party.
NVRLND, hired to plan the party for the previously unnamed actor, allegedly requested free cakes from Three Little Birds bakery in Keighley, West Yorkshire, in exchange for promotion on social media and in magazines.
The Daily Mail revealed the celebrity to be the former Coronation Street star.
Ms Tyldesley said: “I had no idea those emails were being sent. I would never ask anyone to work for free.
"The abuse I have been receiving online is horrendous so hopefully this will put an end to it.”

00:00 Cakegate? What? So I had no idea those emails were being sent. I'm not working with the lovely
00:12 OK! magazine on anything that I'm aware of and Neverland are an amazing company. They've supplied
00:21 me with performers in the past. They're insane and they've been completely misrepresented in this
00:29 matter. Utterly bizarre. Don't really know what to say. I mean I hope the cake lady got the exposure
00:38 she was craving whilst I've got journalists knocking on my front door while my kids are
00:42 playing in the front room. Dead nice that babes. Thanks for coming.
