00:00 So we're here, we've got the PSVR 2 in the office.
00:03 Let's see what you get in the box.
00:04 So immediately, it's quite a nicely designed box.
00:09 It's very light, which I am surprised about.
00:14 So let's take a look.
00:17 So, got a little thin outer case,
00:20 and then we've got the actual PSVR box inside.
00:22 Ooh, okay.
00:24 Let's take a look at this little inside box first.
00:26 What do we get in here?
00:29 So we've got various guarantees.
00:34 We've got the instruction manual,
00:37 which will no doubt tell you about
00:38 how to set up all the various rooms.
00:42 Then we've got your USB-C cable,
00:45 which you'll use to connect it to the actual console.
00:50 Oh, and you get a little headset.
00:52 Well, that's quite cool.
00:54 Let's have a look at this guy.
00:56 It's like one of those like mad sports ones.
00:59 So I'm guessing it goes behind your, like this.
01:02 Not gonna put them in.
01:03 But it's got a headphone jack,
01:07 which I'm guessing goes into the actual PSVR
01:09 and a little sort of locking cube,
01:11 so that'll be interesting to try later.
01:13 And a couple of different earbud things for you.
01:17 Little ear holes.
01:18 So, now, let's get to the actual thing.
01:22 Right, we've got,
01:26 let's get the actual headset out first.
01:29 So, comes all nicely wrapped up.
01:34 You've also got your cable attached.
01:36 Ooh.
01:38 And then, with this guy,
01:43 we've got the headset itself.
01:46 Ooh.
01:47 It looks quite sort of spacey, doesn't it,
01:51 compared to the first one.
01:52 It's very light.
01:55 My initial thing is just, it's very light, which is good.
02:00 It's got lots of padding in here.
02:03 So, something I noticed when I played
02:06 Horizon Call of the Mountain is how good the ceiling was
02:11 when it actually fits around your face.
02:12 You have this sort of rubber detailing
02:16 that goes across your cheeks.
02:19 And then, again, on your forehead as well up here.
02:21 So, it is quite dark when you're in it, which is fantastic.
02:25 The cable itself is coming off the side here,
02:30 which is unusual.
02:32 You've got the slots for clipping
02:34 that little headset in here as well.
02:36 So, we've also got this notch on the back,
02:39 which is for, there's a button here somewhere for loosening.
02:45 That one pulls the headset visor out.
02:49 And then, you've also got this little dial here
02:52 for adjusting the actual distance between the lenses inside.
02:57 And, ah yes, this is not only a dial on the back,
03:02 but also a button.
03:03 So, you can see that there's four cameras on the front,
03:06 which is all about tracking your hands.
03:10 So, they'll be able to track the controllers,
03:11 which obviously get out in a minute,
03:12 which means you don't have to have
03:13 the camera plugged in anymore,
03:14 which is obviously a game changer.
03:16 But yeah, so there's also,
03:18 you've got your power button here,
03:21 and then you've also got a little speaker.
03:23 So, you don't have to plug it in all the time.
03:27 And you've also got this button here,
03:29 which is, if you've ever used the Quest 2,
03:32 you can press it and then it allows you
03:35 to see the world around you.
03:36 So, you don't have to worry about,
03:38 like, where am I in the room?
03:39 Like, you can quickly press it and actually see.
03:42 Also, it's great because, like,
03:43 obviously the controllers are quite different
03:45 to any of the other controllers that we've had for PSVR
03:48 or the actual DualSense.
03:49 So, being able to be like, "Where's the buttons?"
03:52 is going to be pretty handy.
03:54 So, yeah, in terms of initial impressions,
03:56 like, again, very, very light.
03:59 The back part has really nice padding on it.
04:01 I like the fact that this sort of,
04:06 the headband stretching button is very oversized,
04:09 so it'll be very easy for people just to get in.
04:13 And immediately it's very comfortable,
04:14 which is nice.
04:16 Obviously, I haven't done any of the adjusting.
04:19 But yeah, immediately very comfortable.
04:20 I feel very silly with it just on like this.
04:22 But let's take a look at the controllers.
04:27 Also in the box, we've got our two controllers,
04:29 and that's it.
04:31 So, everything is in this lovely recyclable packaging,
04:36 which is good.
04:38 One controller.
04:39 Sorry for the squeaking.
04:43 Two controllers.
04:44 I already love these.
04:49 If you've used the WAND Move controllers
04:53 from the original PSVR,
04:54 they are actually PS3 tech,
04:56 so they always felt really sort of old and cumbersome.
05:00 Whereas these feel like the future.
05:03 You know, they're very similar
05:04 to what Meta has done with the Quest and HTC Vive as well.
05:09 So, they've got this sort of moon,
05:11 sort of, I guess, barriers around them.
05:13 So, when you're using them,
05:15 you're not going to bang your hands on anything
05:16 if you do bang yourself.
05:18 And then in terms of, this is the left one,
05:22 this is the right one.
05:23 On the left, you've got normal share button,
05:25 triangle and square.
05:27 And you've also got the PlayStation button
05:29 and a tiny little, isn't it cute?
05:32 Tiny little joystick.
05:34 And on the back, you've obviously got your trigger as well.
05:37 And L1 on the edge as well,
05:40 and a charging port.
05:41 And obviously you've got your safety thing,
05:43 so you're not swinging your controller through your TV,
05:47 as in the Wii days.
05:49 So, yeah.
05:51 I mean, that's quite annoying.
05:54 Yeah, I can see people getting all fumbly about that.
05:56 Not a very good location.
05:57 But yeah, so that is the left one.
06:01 And obviously the same on the right.
06:03 You've got the same, obviously, design.
06:06 This one's got R1 and the R2 on it.
06:08 And then we've also got a circle, square,
06:10 another PlayStation button.
06:12 Do they both?
06:13 Yeah, they both click.
06:14 And your options buttons there as well.
06:16 So, it's kind of just the DualSense split in half.
06:20 But yeah, so they are the controllers.
06:23 Again, very, very light.
06:25 They've got like a nice sort of texturing
06:28 on the actual controller.
06:30 Can't tell what that's got.
06:33 Is it the tiny?
06:34 It is the tiny little symbols like it is on the PlayStation.
06:37 That's so cute.
06:38 But yeah, so they are great.
06:43 Really comfortable to use.
06:44 I've got very big hands, very big man hands.
06:49 And I'm not having any problems feeling like
06:51 I'm sort of cramming everything in there.
06:54 But yeah, loving them.
06:57 Loving the color scheme as well.
06:59 So yes, that's everything you get in the box.
07:01 Two controllers, your headset,
07:06 and your charging cable, your little headset.
07:10 Oh, let's have a look, see how that clips in.
07:12 Let's give that a go.
07:13 So, whoa.
07:16 Headphone jack in there.
07:20 And then you've got your locking nubbin in there.
07:25 Oh, that's quite neat.
07:27 So it just clips onto the back bit
07:28 and hopefully kind of just keeps out the way,
07:31 which is good.
07:32 That's a handy little trick.
07:35 I feel like they haven't made enough
07:36 of the fact that you actually get headphones in there.
07:37 And very easy to unclip as well, which is nice.
07:40 So yeah, first impressions.
07:44 It's a lovely looking bit of kit.
07:46 Very nice packaging, but then you'd expect that
07:48 from what the PS5s did as well.
07:51 The controllers are lovely, very light.
07:55 I do think that the placement of this safety band
07:59 is quite awkward.
08:01 Let's try it on the right hand
08:02 to make sure it's not just me being silly.
08:03 It's just, I guess, where else would you put it?
08:07 But also, it's a bit awkward.
08:09 But yeah, I'm very excited to see what these feel like
08:13 and how quickly you get,
08:14 'cause the actual sort of buttons are quite tiny
08:18 and remembering which ones which in game
08:20 might be interesting to begin with.
08:23 But yeah, there we go.
08:24 That's everything we get in the box.
08:25 As a reminder, this is the standalone package.
08:30 There is also one that comes with Call of the Mountain
08:33 as a bundle, but this is £529 or $569.
08:38 So it's very much an investment.
08:44 It already feels like it's a much more streamlined,
08:46 sort of sophisticated design over the original PSVR.
08:50 Much more akin to what we're getting with the Quest.
08:55 But obviously you are going to be tethered with this cable.
08:58 It's quite heavy, but again, it's rolled up.
09:03 But at least it's very slimline.
09:04 Whether this is gonna get in the way,
09:06 especially if you're doing something that's room scale
09:09 and a lot more sort of gesticulating,
09:11 we'll have to find out in our review.
09:14 But so far, it feels really premium.
09:18 Like, it's all quite lightweight,
09:19 but also quite well-designed.
09:22 But yeah, we'll be back next week with our full review.
09:27 Thanks for watching.
09:28 If you have any questions, then do ping us a line.
09:31 (upbeat music)
