00:00 Blind Veterans UK staff talk about why they love working here.
00:06 My job specifically, I think that every day is different with it.
00:09 Could be herding goats, doing a bit of plumbing.
00:13 Try to promote getting out into the outdoor environment as much as possible.
00:17 Different trips, different activities, we get to meet different members.
00:20 It's so special to be able to come to such a beautiful building every day.
00:24 I've worked for six years now, yeah, best decision I ever made.
00:27 When you first arrive at the charity, one of the key things for most people is that
00:31 reassurance that if they haven't got skills in supporting people who've experienced sight
00:35 loss, that they're enabled and guided.
00:38 If there's something you want to do that you haven't tried before, you just have to ask.
00:43 Train our staff to become archery leaders and to do water sports and power boats and
00:49 things like that.
00:50 There's a scope to be really creative.
00:52 We've got a really good internal CPD and training programme.
00:55 You can learn new skills.
00:57 MBQs and leadership qualifications.
00:59 A generous pension scheme.
01:00 Have my eyesight done for free.
01:03 Lots of medical health programmes.
01:05 If I didn't have this job, I would never experience all this story.
01:09 This is an amazing cause.
01:11 I like getting to know about their stories and their lives.
01:15 Makes it worthwhile seeing the changes it makes in their life.
01:18 Change people's lives genuinely, we all do here in the centre.
01:21 Great thing to see them develop.
01:23 Promoting independence.
01:24 Incredible members that have some of the best stories you'll ever hear.
01:27 It's a really great place to be.
