Gilas can't expect to be competitive without Sotto; Kai needs the World Cup to raise his profile. So what's holding up an agreement?
Transcript
00:00 I feel like if this is not the World Cup, I think SBP has already wrapped Kai.
00:05 Kai, Soto and Gilas need to find a way to solve this impasse.
00:15 Because whether they want it or not, they need each other right now.
00:19 Gilas can't expect to compete in this World Cup without Kai.
00:24 And Kai, for himself, he needs these two races to qualify for an underwhelming performance in the NBA Summer League.
00:32 He needs to revive his dreams, especially if he wants to reach the basketball world.
00:39 I think he needs to show up and more importantly, play well in this World Cup.
00:44 Right now, the two sides are a bit far apart.
00:50 I don't know why they reached this point and I don't know why they let their relationship end up like this.
00:57 The point is, right now, there is so much distrust and there is so much bad faith in both camps.
01:04 So, one side will say something and the other side doesn't know if they will believe it or not.
01:10 That's how bad the relationship has gotten since the 16th.
01:15 They need to find a way to not only come to an agreement but also co-exist because they need each other.
01:25 I feel that if this is not the World Cup, I think SBP has already wrapped Kai.
01:30 The simple reason is that they don't want to play in the NBA.
01:35 And I think Kai, at this time, won't even mind. At least Kai's camp.
01:41 But what's important right now is this World Cup.
01:45 It's not only a World Cup but we happen to be hosting it for only the first time since 1978.
01:52 The success of this World Cup will hinge on how Gilas will fare in this one.
01:57 Whether we like it or not. It's not because the hosting is good or anything.
02:01 But this World Cup hosting will be measured by the success or failure for that matter of Gilas.
02:08 I hope they reach an agreement and it's imperative that they do.
02:13 We have what, two or three weeks before the World Cup?
02:16 Not yet. But hopefully they will because they should.
02:22 Otherwise, good luck to us. Right now, the clock is ticking.
