00:02 All right, back half of my Saturday double sessions had the Bears this morning,
00:05 Colts tonight.
00:06 You guys can see the moon is up.
00:07 It's been a long day.
00:08 I got five takeaways from Indianapolis's training camp.
00:11 Takeaway number one, everyone wants to know how Anthony Richardson is doing.
00:15 And what's obvious is the talent.
00:16 You don't need to be out there for five minutes to see the way he moves around,
00:19 his size, the way the ball comes off his hands,
00:21 to understand why he was the fourth overall pick.
00:24 But what the Colts are really encouraged with has been the way he's picking
00:27 things up through the spring and summer, the radio plays into the huddle.
00:31 He's able to repeat the play calls, command the huddle, and
00:35 come out of the huddle confident.
00:36 That's something young quarterbacks really struggle with.
00:39 So the fact that he's able to do that shows capacity to learn.
00:41 He's got a long ways to go.
00:43 There are gonna be ups and downs, but
00:44 there are good early signs that he's gonna make it as an NFL quarterback.
00:48 Takeaway number two, Shaq Leonard is back on the field, and
00:52 that is huge for the Colts.
00:54 Had a really frustrating 2022 with the back injury.
00:58 What they're seeing out there is the old Shaq Leonard now,
01:00 both from a demeanor standpoint and from a play standpoint.
01:04 And obviously having one of the best players in the league
01:06 back in that spot is really, really big.
01:08 What's also big is in Leonard's absence last year,
01:11 Zaire Franklin really came along as a defensive player.
01:14 He'd been a special teams captain for them.
01:16 And having Franklin out there with Leonard should really soften the blow
01:19 of the loss of Bobby Okereke to the Giants.
01:22 Takeaway number three, Kenny Moore is reengaged after, again,
01:26 another guy who had a frustrating 2022.
01:30 And that should be really important for the secondary, losing Stephon Gilmore.
01:33 They're young back there, and they're gonna be relying on young vets
01:36 like Julian Blackman, Nick Cross, and Rodney Thomas.
01:40 Moore can be a real steadying presence back there.
01:42 Obviously still a really good player.
01:45 And they're seeing, again, a reengaged version of Moore, which should be really
01:49 big as Shane Steichen builds his first team here in Indianapolis.
01:52 Takeaway number four, if there's one player whose development is a swing factor
01:56 on where this team goes, it'd be the left tackle, Bernard Raymond.
01:59 He had a rough rookie season, wasn't quite big enough, wasn't quite strong enough.
02:03 He worked really hard in those areas in the offseason.
02:06 He's had a really good offseason, but the proof will be in the pudding.
02:09 The pads go on Tuesday, they'll know more on Tuesday.
02:11 If Raymond comes along like they think he can come along,
02:14 then the offensive line could again be a strength, or at least here they think so.
02:18 Finally, takeaway number five, Jonathan Taylor was here today.
02:21 He boarded the bus with Jim Irsay.
02:23 He's formally requested a trade.
02:25 As my buddy Ian Rappaport reported, if I'm the Colts, I pay Jonathan Taylor.
02:30 Why?
02:31 I do it in the name of the development of my young quarterback.
02:35 What Zeke Elliott was for Dak Prescott, what Todd Gurley was for Jared Goff,
02:39 Jonathan Taylor can be for Anthony Richardson.
02:43 He can be the guy you lean on, he takes the pressure off you,
02:45 he gets you in second and sixth, he gets you in third and two.
02:48 He allows you to manage your young quarterback.
02:50 So to me, it'd be worth it to pay Jonathan Taylor, even if on the back end,
02:56 it doesn't look like you did that good a deal.
02:58 Because again, there's no price you can put on the development of your
03:02 young quarterback.
03:02 That's it for me from Indianapolis, and after a long day from Indianapolis and
03:07 Chicago, we got the Bengals up next.
