Exponent Energy, a Bengaluru-based startup has unveiled its patented 'Water-Based' off-board thermal management system. According to the company, this system makes way for a rapid charging tech that can charge anything from a two-wheeler to a bus in just 15 minutes. Exponent Energy goes on to claim that it is the only EV company in the world that made a 0 to 100 per cent charge in 15-minute reality for EVs - Indeed a very tall claim for a startup company.

00:00 So when we talk about EVs in India, it's a fairly new market and we find a lot of problems
00:10 such as the costs, charging, battery issues and everything such.
00:16 So we are here now at the Exponent Energy event where they showcased one of their latest
00:22 technologies in the EV segment for their Exponent Energy battery pack and it's an honestly it's
00:29 a state of the art technology which brings down a lot of our worries, a lot of our anxieties
00:34 about electric vehicles and the charging related to them.
00:38 Welcome to DriveSpark, I'm Vedant Johari and let's take a closer look at Exponent Energy's
00:42 latest battery technology.
00:44 So around me you can see this huge pump and this three-wheeler, this electric three-wheeler
00:55 which showcases Exponent Energy's, their own battery pack and the battery pack and the
01:02 pump is all made and produced by them.
01:05 This is the E-pump and the battery pack is known as the E-pack and this is the E-plug
01:10 which is what connects into the charging port of the vehicle.
01:14 So Exponent Energy's latest technology brings down our worries by a lot due to its 15-minute
01:21 rapid charging.
01:22 The first thing that comes to the mind is the excess of heat produced in the battery
01:27 but Exponent Energy has taken care of all of that and has gone through 3000 charging
01:33 cycles and only seen a 13% degradation of the battery which is one of the best results
01:40 and the best numbers we've seen in terms of electric vehicles in the modern era.
01:44 So apart from the 3000 charging cycles, that great feature over here, how we can see, it
01:51 also has a 5-year warranty which is the first time seen in any of the latest technologies
01:57 in terms of battery.
01:58 How does Exponent Energy keep the battery's ideal temperature for such a long time?
02:02 They in fact have refrigerated water stored at 10 degrees Celsius in their pump which
02:07 when you charge, also shoots out the water into the battery but kept in a safe place
02:13 not to avoid any problems faced inside the battery.
02:17 So to take a look at this whole procedure closer, Exponent has set up a makeshift visible
02:24 sort of thing that we can see over here.
02:27 So the ideal running temperature of an EV battery is somewhere between 25 to 35 degrees
02:37 Celsius but in India we face temperatures up to 40, 45 and even in extreme cases up
02:42 to 50 degrees Celsius.
02:45 So what Exponent Energy has done is through their E-pump, they've shot out some cold
02:50 water that flows through the wires and you can see it run through these sort of passageways
02:58 on top of the battery which keeps the temperature sort of level at the optimum range which is
03:04 25 to 35 degrees.
03:07 Again this is one of the best technologies we haven't seen in the modern era.
03:12 So hats off to Exponent Energy for doing this.
03:15 So this is Vedant Johari, signing out.
