Myanmar's military government has reduced some of the prison sentences being served by former ruler Aung San Suu Kyi in an act of clemency timed to coincide with a religious festival.

00:06 Suu Kyi. She`d been in detention since being ousted in a coup in 2021. Aung was sentenced
00:13 to 33 years in prison for a range of offenses, including bribery. The pardon concerns five
00:19 of the 19 convictions against her, and it was not immediately clear whether it would
00:24 allow her release.
00:26 She was one of 7,000 prisoners granted clemency by the military leadership a day after it
00:30 announced a six-month extension to the country`s state of emergency.
