00:02 And I suppose that's why people like myself love spotted hyenas because they are.
00:10 So I've been asked by a lot of viewers, why don't I post more about hyenas. And so I decided
00:27 to introduce you guys to young Nicholas, a nine-month-old spotted hyena
00:35 who is incredibly lovable and incredibly cute.
00:41 And he has an interesting story.
00:44 And that story goes as follows. Nicholas was born here at the sanctuary. However,
00:57 his mother had another cub and that other cub was more dominant than him. In a hyena society,
01:05 normally the mother will have two in the litter and if they're same sex, as it seemed was the
01:13 case with young Nicholas over here, the siblings fight extensively. And the more dominant one
01:25 tries to suppress the other one from getting food and milk.
01:30 And, ah, look, he's trying to dominate me now. And anyway, in any event, so what happened was
01:40 we had to intervene and remove young Nicholas and take him and hand raise him. And it's not
01:46 something that we ever do lightly or take lightly because we have to know that we have the capability
02:09 of looking after this animal for the rest of his life. Young Nicholas, please behave yourself.
