00:00 Air conditioning is the least of it.
00:01 Whenever you've got black mold, asbestos,
00:04 blood-based paint.
00:05 Todd Chrisley's whole new reality behind bars
00:08 keeps getting darker.
00:10 What we will not do is we will not break.
00:13 No AC, bad plumbing, and the possibility of mold.
00:17 It's a nightmare, it's awful.
00:19 Shocking details from his legal team's new lawyer,
00:22 powerhouse defense attorney Jay Surgent.
00:24 He tells ET both Todd and wife Julie
00:27 are not asking for special treatment at their prisons.
00:30 If you're in a government facility,
00:33 you should have air conditioning.
00:35 In fact, Jay says the administration
00:37 at both of their facilities aren't handling things properly
00:40 because of their celebrity status.
00:42 What else?
00:43 The Chrisley Knows Best patriarch
00:44 claims he was photographed while sleeping.
00:47 And Todd suspects he isn't receiving his mail.
00:50 That to me is an issue.
00:53 That's Todd's adult children, Savannah and Chase,
00:56 sounding alarm bells on her Unlocked podcast on Tuesday.
01:00 As for their mom, Julie.
01:01 She just had snakes literally right there where her bed is.
01:06 And then the way they think to apprehend a snake
01:12 is to mace it.
01:13 Any family who faces a loved one going to prison,
01:16 it's a very difficult challenge,
01:18 but they're strong, they're faithful.
01:20 They're both in states where it gets 100 plus degrees
01:23 and there's no air conditioning.
01:25 Yep, both prisons are a far cry
01:27 from the couple's Nashville mansion.
01:29 Todd's federal facility is in Florida
01:31 and Julie's is in Kentucky.
01:33 They're 655 miles apart.
01:36 We made a commitment that we were not gonna give up.
01:40 They surrendered to authorities back in January,
01:42 starting their combined 19 year sentence
01:45 after the couple's convictions last year
01:47 for bank fraud and tax evasion.
01:49 I've never seen two people, my parents,
01:51 be so steadfast in their faith.
01:53 In the end, the truth will prevail.
01:54 It may get harder before it gets easier, but we have faith.
01:58 In light of these allegations,
02:00 Jay is requesting home confinement for the couple
02:03 and a reduction on their sentences.
02:05 Everyone always wants an update
02:06 on how mom and dad are doing, and they're doing fine.
02:09 They're doing as good as they can, I guess.
02:11 Exactly, they're doing fine with what they're given.
02:15 They were not built to break
02:16 and this damn sure is not gonna break them.
02:19 They have always said that they're innocent,
02:23 that they have not done these things,
02:24 and they will stick to that.
02:26 Now, the family's number one mission,
02:28 clear Todd and Julie's names.
02:30 Their second priority, use their platform
02:33 to speak out on the state of the prison system.
02:35 I think they're optimistic, and let me be clear,
02:37 I think that optimism is well placed.
02:39 This trial was riddled with errors,
02:41 and we expect the appeals court to see that.
02:43 We can help other people who are going through
02:45 things like this. Absolutely.
02:46 People who cannot afford to have
02:49 proper counsel to represent them.

02:55 (whooshing)
