00:00 I'm here with Elephant Sessions. What's your name?
00:03 I'm Alistair, this is Ewan.
00:05 And how are you feeling about today?
00:07 Buzzing. It feels so good to be back. We were 2019 was the last time we were here.
00:11 And it just feels great. Melbourne feels properly back.
00:14 We've got a new main stage now, a bigger arena. First time we're playing again.
00:18 So it's going to be good.
00:19 And you guys are on tour at the moment, is that right?
00:21 Yes, summer festival season. So it's been a couple of months in.
00:26 We play most weekends, but pretty much all the weekends.
00:30 Multiple times this weekend we've had three festivals across Britain and Ireland.
00:34 So yeah, it's been great. It's been hectic, it's been fun.
00:38 A lot of travel, but really good.
00:40 Yeah, and what would you say, because obviously you're two young guys from the Highlands.
00:43 What would you say to other people in the same boat from this area,
00:48 it can be possible to go on tour and live through music.
00:51 There's opportunities all over the Highlands.
00:53 The first time we played Belladrum was to, I think, 30 people on a converted combine harvester.
00:58 And we knew probably 25 of those people.
01:01 And we didn't really have a right to be playing in the festival.
01:04 And we kind of went there. I think we played every stage at this festival now.
01:07 There's a few venues in town. Obviously we lost the Ironworks, which is totally rubbish.
01:11 That was a really, really big loss for the town.
01:13 But there are other venues, there's other spaces and there's loads of musicians here.
01:17 So I would say there's opportunities everywhere.
01:20 Getting out and gigging, getting enough gigging experience, ground your teeth.
01:25 And we just relentlessly get creative and use the more you do it, the more you squeeze it.
01:30 And the people you meet, the connections you make.
01:32 Belladrum is more than willing to give young local people opportunities.
01:35 They're really, really supportive, really good festival.
01:38 As you said, we played to no crowd 11 years ago.
01:42 It's full of great stages.
01:44 Amazing. And is there anybody you're really looking forward to seeing today?
01:47 We came last night, we really went to Sea Grid. We came last night to Sea Grid.
01:50 It was amazing. Very good.
01:52 I think we're going to catch Katie Tunstall tonight.
01:54 Unfortunately, we're only here tonight.
01:56 So we need to look at who's on tonight.
01:59 But yeah, Katie Tunstall would be good.
02:01 And did you just camp the night?
02:03 We went back to bed. Camping days are rough.
02:06 Yeah.
02:07 We don't feel as young as we did.
02:10 So the general camp was a bit much for us these days.
02:13 But yeah, we slept through it.
02:15 We'll watch it and refresh for today.
02:19 Amazing.
