00:30 I mean, again, I mean, fame, fame, fatal fame,
00:35 as the man said.
00:36 - In a statement, the singer's family said,
00:38 "It is with great sadness that we announce
00:40 "the passing of our beloved Sinead."
00:42 Her family and friends are devastated
00:44 and have requested privacy at this very difficult time.
00:48 This was the last time she was seen out in public
00:51 this past March as she received a music award in Dublin.
00:54 - I want to dedicate it to each and every member
00:58 of Ireland's refugee community.

01:05 - The news comes just over a year
01:07 after her 17-year-old son Shane died of suicide.
01:10 Following that, Sinead posted a series of distressing tweets
01:13 saying she wanted to follow him.
01:15 She apologized to her fans the next day for upsetting them.
01:19 At this point, the cause of death is unclear,
01:21 but Sinead was open about her struggles
01:23 with depression and PTSD.
01:25 - The mental illness, you know, it's a bit like drugs.
01:28 It doesn't give a (beep) who you are.
01:29 - In 2017, she sought help from Dr. Phil.
01:33 - We were able to, in 24 hours,
01:36 get her out of a motel room alone
01:39 in the middle of the night crying
01:40 to a 100-acre treatment facility
01:43 in the rolling hills of Tennessee.
01:44 - When I took an overdose about three weeks ago,
01:47 I wrote my suicide note on it.
01:51 - Would she have died without your help?
01:53 - I think this could have gone real bad real soon.

02:18 - Sinead O'Connor was never meant to be a pop star.
