00:00 first day? It was fun. I met you, you know, first practice with the fans, you know, so
00:04 that's always good. We get to showcase what we got as a team. But the first day back, it
00:10 felt good just being out here with my teammates again. What's just the feeling kind of like
00:13 waking up coming in here today? Nervous, excited for today? Or what's it like? I'm
00:18 definitely excited. You know, because the coaches, they do a great job of preparing
00:21 us, you know, we got to do a great job of preparing ourselves. I know the QB room, they
00:25 are going to continue to push me to do better. So I was definitely excited to come out here
00:30 and showcase what I'm capable of. How important do you think it was to have a pre-mini-camp
00:33 down in Florida? You told us you were up to no good, I guess, pulling up to the U and
00:37 the Florida show too. Oh yeah, you know, I got to rep the Gators wherever I go. Even
00:41 going down there. Growing up, you know, first half of my life in Miami, you know, my family
00:46 wanted me to go there, but I had to rep the Florida way right here. But going down there,
00:50 you know, getting the routine together with the receivers, you know, that was good. You
00:52 know, it just kind of helped us, you know, get on a faster pace, you know, faster train
00:56 to, you know, just prepare ourselves for the season. So I definitely feel like that was
00:59 good. Anthony, what's going to tell you you're making the necessary day-to-day progress?
01:05 What's going to tell you that? I guess, you know, just working and my confidence in the
01:14 playbook. I guess that's the main thing. And then my teammates, you know, I feel like the
01:18 more they trust me, the more they respect me coming out here and just being a part of
01:23 the team and helping them be better players. I feel like that's going to help me, you know,
01:26 and let me know that I'm doing something right. Is this more physical or is it more getting
01:32 in the playbook and understanding what you're doing? Definitely mental. You know, I feel
01:36 like it's mental for everybody, but especially for me, you know, just diving into the playbook
01:39 day by day, you know, just studying and everything. I feel like we got most of the playbook, you
01:45 know, installed already, but it's just repetition going over it every day. So definitely 100%
01:49 mental for me. How much is the speed of practice testing you? Because the pace is, the tempo
01:54 I mean is pretty quick, isn't it? Oh, it's definitely fast. You know, it's keeping me
01:58 in shape for sure. My first practice, I'm like, "Ah, this is definitely fast." But it's,
02:03 you know, cramming all that within an hour, you know, it definitely gets things rolling.
02:07 You got to be on point. So detail definitely matters. How different do you feel like your
02:11 throwing motion footwork is this time this year versus last time? I definitely feel like
02:17 I improved, you know, because I dove into my training a little bit more. You know, I
02:21 focus on, you know, the minor details instead of just how far I can throw the ball and,
02:26 you know, just spinning around and just throwing the ball. So I definitely get my footwork
02:30 and my timing down. This timing definitely matters in this league. Are you more natural?
02:34 Oh yeah, yeah, for sure. You know, that's the key to the game, you know, just being
02:37 natural, not with body. You know, you watch, you know, Pat Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers,
02:41 you know, they're just natural throwers. So instead of just trying to, you know, be
02:44 a perfect pass, it should be a natural throw and just get the ball to the receivers.
02:47 So I'm seeing the impact of when you implement those refined techniques. Are you seeing results
02:52 from it? You know, the outcome of the game too? Yeah, definitely. You know, it's just
02:56 a matter of, you know, trusting my training, you know, just going through my routines every
02:59 day, you know, my throwing routines, you know, throughout the day before practice.
03:03 Just staying in tune with my arm and my legs, you know, so just staying on point and just
03:07 helping the receivers get the ball. Is it mostly engaging your legs more?
03:10 Because you are a big guy, you have a big arm, you know, you can get away with that.
03:13 Yeah, for sure. You know, get my legs right. You know, before I just relied on my arm,
03:17 like you said, big arm, but I didn't really, you know, use my legs as much. So now I just
03:22 I'm getting my feet faster, making sure I'm pointing the right way. I'm using my hips
03:26 a lot more. What was the biggest thing you learned from the guys when you were down in
03:30 Miami with them? What was the biggest thing you took away from that trip down to Miami
03:33 with some of the offensive guys? You know, it's just learning how to be a leader, you
03:37 know, not necessarily going out there and just letting the plays, you know, it's getting
03:41 that trust, getting that respect and being a leader. So I feel like going down there,
03:45 you know, it definitely tested out for me. I'm just going to get it for it for more.
03:49 How was it throwing the first touchdown? Because I think that one we kind of rolled down,
03:52 nobody pumped it, we went through it and you know, it just pumps up, I guess yourself or
03:55 the crowd, but how did it feel to score, you know?
03:58 You know, it feels good, you know, it definitely feels good when everybody played well. So
04:02 that's what I'm hoping to make them work a lot more, but you know, it just feels good
04:09 when you can smell something and you want to improve the work. So it definitely feels
04:13 good. What's the WSU like in your quarterback room? You, Gartner and Sam are three very
04:18 different personalities. How is that gelling already though? You know, it's great, you
04:21 know, just having guys from different backgrounds, you know, different parts of the world, you
04:25 know, it feels good because we're all rooting for each other, but we all push each other.
04:29 You know, we all tell each other how it is and what it is, and you know, you just got
04:33 to keep it, you know, straight and keep it 100 with each other and just push each other
04:36 every day.
