00:00 [MUSIC PLAYING]
00:04 - Working on a Star Wars game is a dream come true.
00:07 - I've had all of the toys.
00:09 And it's wild to go from making these little stories
00:13 on the carpet to actually build a narrative in the Star Wars
00:17 galaxy.
00:20 - Massive Entertainment is the perfect choice
00:22 to build an open world Star Wars game,
00:24 because it is inherent to their DNA
00:26 as a studio to deliver on incredible open world
00:30 experiences.
00:31 - Massive Entertainment are master storytellers
00:33 for open world games.
00:35 This is going to be a fresh experience for Star Wars fans
00:37 everywhere.
00:39 - Immediately, I had that in my head,
00:40 all the possibilities of where do we want to go?
00:43 What can we bring to Star Wars that has not been seen before?
00:46 [MUSIC PLAYING]
00:53 - Lucasfilm Games suggested that the perfect era
00:56 to set Outlaws would be between Empire Strikes Back
00:59 and Return of the Jedi.
01:00 - What's great about that point on the timeline
01:02 is this is a moment where the civil war between the Empire
01:06 and the Rebellion is at its height.
01:09 And this creates an environment across the galaxy
01:13 where Outlaws can thrive.
01:16 - That's the world that Kay is stepping into.
01:19 And she sees the opportunity just like anybody else.
01:22 [MUSIC PLAYING]
01:26 - We will see some really cool syndicates
01:29 both from existing lore and newly created for the game.
01:34 - When you play Star Wars Outlaws,
01:35 you get a chance to discover what the underworld is like
01:38 and live through those experiences.
01:41 - The stakes are definitely very high for Kay's journey
01:44 through the underworld.
01:45 But she learns, she adapts, she sneaks around,
01:48 and she finds herself in very important spaces
01:51 with very powerful people.
01:53 [MUSIC PLAYING]
01:57 - Building the world of Star Wars Outlaws,
02:00 first thing we had to do was think of places
02:02 where Outlaws thrive, these hubs of scum and villainy.
02:08 - The most exciting thing is being
02:10 able to go back to iconic locations
02:13 that people know and love, but then diving into the Lucasfilm
02:16 archives and really bringing them
02:18 alive in a new but very genuine way.
02:23 - It's not just about recreating Tatooine as you know it.
02:27 Going back to the classic sources of spaghetti westerns,
02:30 we tried to recreate an authentic mood and feel
02:33 as we build new points of interest
02:35 to follow the already established history.
02:36 [MUSIC PLAYING]
02:39 - And there is a new location that we collaborated
02:42 with Massive Entertainment on called Toshara.
02:46 And this has been built from the ground up
02:48 with the scoundrel fantasy at its beating heart.
02:52 - Hang on.
02:53 [ROARING]
02:55 - Our goal is that you feel like you're
02:58 stepping into Star Wars.
02:59 And that means going back to those Macquarie concepts,
03:03 going back to Joe Johnston's storyboards,
03:06 Phil Tippett's creature designs, and creating a lived in galaxy.
03:12 - We're trying to create a world that feels alive
03:15 and bustling with opportunity that also is very grounded.
03:20 And we're getting inspiration from the African savannah.
03:24 But we still want to add the alien element.
03:27 And that is what makes it feel like Star Wars.
03:32 - We want to give Toshara some elements that
03:34 make it really stand out in the Star Wars galaxy.
03:37 So there are windswept plains, veins of amberene,
03:42 and there's a vibrant city called
03:43 Murakana that's built into a huge rock that's
03:46 been carved out by the wind that's ever present on Toshara.
03:52 - One thing that we need to always keep in mind
03:54 is there's always a connection between the biome
03:58 and what grows there, what lives there, like the flora, fauna,
04:00 and the culture of the people who inhabit the place.
04:03 From how the plants pollinate or how vegetation and local
04:06 resources are used in local clothing and buildings,
04:09 to even how the locals have adopted wind
04:11 into their way of life.
04:13 We have created everything with an authentic approach.
04:16 So players will experience all these places like someone
04:19 who actually is there.
04:20 - We made it, Nyx.
04:23 - Working with Massive, we were able to really build out
04:25 an authentic Star Wars world where you can travel, explore,
04:30 and discover in a way that we really
04:33 haven't been able to experience in modern Star Wars gaming.
04:36 - The high stakes scoundrel lifestyle
04:42 and the open world promise allowed
04:44 us to create a game within Star Wars that
04:47 had never been done before.
04:49 Not just exploring cities, but also getting onto your speeder
04:54 and race across stunning wilderness.
04:58 Then jump into your ship, the Trailblazer,
05:01 and go on an incredible adventure.
05:04 - We've only scratched the surface of what
05:06 Star Wars Outlaws has to offer.
05:09 There is so much more that you will get to embody and use
05:13 and play when you become KVess.
05:17 - Players are going to love Star Wars Outlaws.
05:20 It's going to be exciting.
05:21 It's very adventurous.
05:22 And that's what makes it Star Wars.
05:25 So I'm very excited to share that.
05:28 - So where do we go next?
05:32 - Anywhere we want.
05:33 - Star Wars Outlaws, coming 2024.
