There are growing concerns for the wellbeing of doctors -- with a new initiative to remind those who spend their professional lives looking after others that they also need a GP to help keep them in good health. Doctor Danielle McMullen is the Vice President of the Australian Medical Association, which is leading the project. She says 'a healthy doctor is a good doctor.’

00:00 This was a brilliant initiative thought up by our Doctors in Training group, really to
00:06 remind each other but also their senior colleagues and the system in general that a healthy doctor
00:12 is a good doctor and that to best care for our patients we need to also remember to take
00:17 that minute, get ourselves a GP and make sure that we're looking after our own health by
00:23 having a regular GP and a care team and not fall foul of trying to self-manage or put
00:30 ourselves on the bottom of the list and look after everyone else before our own health.
00:35 Look I'm proud to say that I do have a GP and despite moving locations a few times over
00:40 the past few years have always managed to look up and find a new GP and make that part
00:46 of my self-care routine and we're really just encouraging all doctors to make that a priority
00:53 and for the system to remember that doctors do need that time to go and see a doctor and
00:59 take care of their own health as well as that of their patients.
01:01 So this is a social media based campaign that's mainly geared towards our Doctors in Training
01:07 and so it's over the next month or so we can expect to see a number of videos up on social
01:12 media platforms, all of us speaking about our own experiences in finding a doctor and
01:18 talking to a GP and hopefully that resonates not just with doctors but also if the community
01:22 sees the videos really highlighting the importance of having that regular GP.
