00:15 And Labrinth shares what's on his playlist.
00:18 Welcome to another Monday here at Billboard News. It's July 24th, I'm Tetris Kelly and I'm a little
00:27 tired from the epic Barbie party I went to yesterday so let me tell you all about it.
00:32 From a record-breaking box office weekend to a bombastic soundtrack
00:36 that's got everybody ready to dance and celebrate.
00:40 Come on Barbie, let's go party. I'm Tetris Kelly with Billboard News here at Soho Warehouse in Los
00:45 Angeles and we're telling you everything you needed to know about Barbie weekend.
00:49 I don't have anything big planned, just a giant blowout party with all the Barbies and
00:53 plant choreography and a bespoke song. You should stop by.
00:56 So cool.
00:56 Warner Brothers' Barbie blasted to the box office top spot with a massive $155 million
01:03 in domestic ticket sales, making it the year's biggest opening surpassing the Super Mario
01:07 Brothers movie as well as every Marvel movie this year. It also broke the first weekend
01:12 record for a film directed by a woman. And what's a movie without its soundtrack?
01:17 And I'm bad like the Barbie. I'm a doll but I still wanna party.
01:21 Nicki Minaj and Ice Pice laid down the lyrics for Barbie World.
01:25 Watch me dance.
01:27 Dua Lipa had Margot Robbie on her feet with Dance the Night,
01:31 while Billie Eilish had us in our feels.
01:34 What was I made for?
01:39 And I'm obsessed with the Janet Jackson sample on 50/50's Barbie Dream.
01:43 You can have it all, make my body dance.
01:48 It was the perfect backdrop for a pool party with themed cocktails and of course, Barbies.
01:54 Celebrating everything epic and pink this weekend.
01:58 We had so much fun. For everything you need to know about the Barbie soundtrack
02:02 and the Barbie movie, head to Billboard.com. And for tickets to the movie, check the link below.
02:07 You may have seen Billboard's Fan Army Face Off. Now this next story is a different kind
02:12 of Fan Army Face Off. It's Doja Cat versus her fans. And don't call them kittens.
02:17 Look at me, look at me. You're looking. I taste good but I just had to redirect my cooking.
02:23 Over the weekend, Doja Cat went off on social media. In a bunch of now deleted threads and
02:28 tweets, Doja told fans to stop calling themselves kittens, saying my fans don't name themselves
02:33 shit. And if you call yourself a kitten or fucking kittens, that means you need to get
02:37 off your phone and get a job and help your parents with the house. Note taken, do not
02:43 call yourself a kitten. But the battle with her fans didn't stop there. When one fan account asked
02:48 her to say she loves them, Doja said, I don't though, because I don't even know y'all.
02:52 Whew. One fan said they've supported her through thick and thin. They claimed Doja would be nothing
02:57 without them, saying she'd be working at a grocery store, making music on Garage Band,
03:02 and went as far as to call her Miss High School Dropout. To which she responded,
03:07 nobody forced you. I don't know why you're talking to me like you're my mother, bitch.
03:10 You sound like a crazy person. Well, parasocial relationships are definitely complicated. In
03:16 reaction to Doja's social media activities, some of her fan accounts deactivated. We'll see where
03:21 Doja and her fans go from here. Billboard has reached out for comment, but has not heard from
03:27 a rep for Doja Cat at time of this recording. ARMY is gonna be celebrating all seven days this
03:33 week as Jungkook and Lotto's Seven tops the Billboard Hot 100 and fights off a big week
03:39 in country music. Let's run it down. Congrats, Kookie. The BTS soloist grabs his first
03:51 Hot 100 number one. He's the second member of BTS to do so behind Jimin's "Like Crazy." This
03:58 also becomes the first number one for our girl Lotto, as she is the featured artist on the track.
04:03 And after all the controversy surrounding Jason Aldean, his song "Try That in a Small Town" hits
04:14 number two, despite being called racist and being pulled from CMT. It's followed by Morgan
04:24 Wallen's "Last Night" at number three and Luke Combs' "Fast Car" at number four in what became
04:31 a big week in country music on the charts. Now it's time to get to the birthday girl and the
04:36 star of Netflix's "Survival of the Pickest." Doing this show, writing in it, starring in it,
04:42 casting in it, it's really everything. It's the chance that I always thought I would never get
04:48 because I never saw people like me growing up. And every time I wanted to do something,
04:53 executives and writers, just a bunch of people would say, "I don't know. I think you might be
04:58 too big. Maybe if you lost some weight, you know, we don't really do double chins. That was a thing."
05:03 Like I have been through so many toxic horror stories. So by the time I got here, you know,
05:11 emotionally to love myself and also be proud of myself, I'm like, I'm only gonna uplift people
05:18 who need it. What in the brown titty TED talk is going on? I just wanted to be the change,
05:24 you know, I wanted to be the change I want to see. I can't believe I'm sweating, but I did.
05:29 Now we all got our periods. I know everything about JLo. For example, I know that we have the
05:35 same birthday. Yes, July 24th. I said, "Jen, we should have a joint birthday party." Oh my god!
05:44 Never had my joint birthday party with JLo. I'm still waiting for tonight!
05:49 I really hope it happens, but I will say every year, I will like my little story post about
06:01 her birthday. She'll share it. I mean, she doesn't say it back, but that's okay because
06:05 you don't give money all the time to like get it back. You know, you just send it out and just know
06:10 that she knows that, well, her social media manager knows that I am thinking of her. BX.
06:19 For the full interview, head to Billboard.com. Before we let you go,
06:25 Labrinth broke down his various playlists for us.
06:28 I'm Labrinth and this is my playlist.
06:30 The songs that will be on my party playlist, "Bad Mama Jammer,"
06:36 one of my favorite records. "Get Down," James Brown. "Family Affair" by Mary J. Blige.
06:43 My workout playlist would be nothing because I really don't work out. I don't have time to.
06:52 If I was going to work out, I would have, "Take it to the limit, the limit."
06:58 My date night playlist would have to be, "Slow Down." I just got to get to know you.
07:07 Because this is an old school banger. Some Donald Jones, any record from his first album.
07:13 And you got to have some Al Green, man. "Let's stay together."
07:18 My chill playlist, you wouldn't even like it. It's just whale music. I don't even,
07:27 it's just random meditation music. That's my chill music.
07:30 I'm not even going to tell you my throwback playlist because it's pretty much everything
07:37 I just told you. That's it for today. Come back tomorrow to learn five things about Toosie and
07:42 Killer Mike teaches us his favorite slang. I'm Tetris Kelly and this is Billboard News.
