The sister of a girl who was brutally raped and killed in a Blackpool hotel is fighting to make the justice system fairer for grieving families of murder victims.
They were only given 28 days to appeal a sentence which they say was 'unduly lenient' - under a law which Katie is now fighting to change.
They need 100,000 signatures in 6 months, after their previous petition ran out. Add your name at https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/641412/signatures/thank-you

00:00 Hi, my name's Katie. Sasha Marston was my little sister and she was murdered when she
00:05 was 16 years old on the 31st of January 2013. My family are currently campaigning. We're
00:11 trying to remove the 28 day time limit from the unjuly lenient sentence scheme so that
00:15 then we can appeal a murderous sentence because he received 35 years. However, the sentencing
00:20 guidance does say that he should have received a whole life order if that guidance had been
00:25 followed. We did set up a petition which the Gazette distributed last week for us in a
00:30 plea to try and get signatures at the last minute but unfortunately we didn't get the
00:33 amount required. So we've set up a new petition which we need 100,000 signatures on. We've
00:41 got six months to achieve this. It seems like a long time but we didn't achieve it last
00:45 time. If you did sign the last petition, they don't carry over and we have to start from
00:52 scratch so please also sign this one for us and also make sure you click the link that
00:57 comes in your email otherwise the signature won't be counted as you have to verify it.
01:03 Thanks everyone.
