00:00 I'm going to sleep on the street for 24 hours.
00:03 I thought of this because I saw this guy outside Booth's
00:08 and it made me feel sad for the people whose lives are destroyed by poverty.
00:12 And you're not going to be camping outside Booth's are you?
00:16 No, I'm like just sleeping, plainly.
00:21 And why do you think it's important that you're not taking the tent,
00:25 that you just go in?
00:26 Then it's fair.
00:28 And why does that make it fair?
00:30 Because homeless people don't get the choice to have a tent,
00:34 they just sit there with a blanket and then we have everything.
00:43 So we can have a tent, they can't.
00:46 So if we're going to do it like them, then we can't have a tent.
00:51 And why do you think it's important that you and your dad are doing this?
00:57 To make people move, to make the world equal.
01:00 I've got this.
01:01 And what's that?
01:03 Camper self-inflating mat.
01:06 I really don't get what it is, I've used it before.
01:11 This is a sleeping bag.
01:17 That's my dad's.
01:22 This is mine.
01:26 Um, have we got something else?
01:28 Oh yeah, we've got these shirts, we've got these hats.
01:33 And I don't know what else, what else do we have?
01:37 Well that's what we'll be using to sleep in this house,
01:40 but we'll also have, we'll take some books with us,
01:44 and we won't have much stuff because we are going to be homeless,
01:49 so we might take a duvet if we can do that for the home.
01:52 But that's pretty much it.
01:54 Yeah.
01:54 Yeah, it's pretty much as he said, he just saw someone outside first
01:58 and he thought it's not very fair that they don't have as much as we have,
02:02 so he said, can we maybe sleep on the streets and be homeless for 24 hours?
02:08 So, initially I think it was quite exciting,
02:11 and then we have to think about the logistics of it,
02:14 and it is going to be a long 24 hours, Fox.
02:17 Yeah.
02:17 So it's just a bit of a challenge,
02:20 Yeah.
02:21 So it's just very nice that he is thinking about other people,
02:25 and he wants the best for other people.
02:27 So we came up with the idea of supporting shelter,
02:30 and we set up a just giving page so that people can donate money to that.
02:35 And how much did you want to raise, Fox?
02:38 I like 250.
02:40 We've got 86% of the target.
02:44 So we've done very well so far,
02:46 and hopefully we can raise some more money to help the home.
02:49 When he initially said it, I thought that's a really lovely idea.
02:53 And then when you start to think about it more and more,
02:57 I was thinking, oh, they're going to be actually on the street.
03:02 It's not as though they are just,
03:03 because in the summer, often they'll camp out in the garden,
03:08 when it's Fox's birthday,
03:09 he'll have some friends around, they might camp and put the tent up.
03:12 It's a really different thing, you know,
03:16 thinking about, are they going to be okay?
03:19 Who will be around? What will happen?
03:21 Garstang is a very small, pretty safe little market town,
03:26 but it really does make you think about people being out there
03:31 through the night on their own with not a lot of resources with them.
03:35 So it will be, yeah, sort of concerned about them,
03:43 but hoping that it will just be a good experience,
03:47 an experience that Fox will remember for a long time.
03:51 And yeah, that will make people appreciate
03:56 what a big thing that is actually to do,
03:58 to give up your shelter and go and see what it's like
04:03 to be out there in the elements all night.
04:05 I think it's great that Fox wants to do it.
04:08 I think we're very fortunate we are only doing it for 24 hours.
04:12 We know that we can come back and come back to our home,
04:16 warmth, shelter, et cetera,
04:18 as people on the street, they don't have that option.
04:21 So Fox and I will manage to do it for 24 hours.
04:25 And as Victoria said, he'll remember it.
04:26 And hopefully we can just help as many people as we can.

04:43 There. So you can scan the QR code to donate.
04:49 And then you can choose how much you donate.
04:52 And if anyone makes donations, please add a kind message.
04:57 Thank you.
