Corby’s Taste Original and Red Kite Special Academy team up to raise over £8500 for the school

Corby’s Taste Original and Red Kite Special Academy recently teamed up to raise over £8500 for the school.

00:00 delighted to work with a local company Taste Original. They've been supporting

00:05 Red Kite for a number of years as community fundraising partners. We took

00:10 part again this year and their 35th anniversary where we had a fun day at

00:17 Corby football ground and we're really delighted that they've raised £7,000

00:22 for us this year which we're hoping it will go towards a wheelchair swing and a

00:28 provision called Colorscape which is music and lights that all our pupils can

00:33 become involved in. It's really important to us as a school to be part of the

00:37 community in Corby and it's great that we've got a local business that wants to

00:41 work with us at the school and most importantly to make even better

00:44 provision for our pupils with special educational needs. I'd really like to

00:49 thank all the staff at Taste Original but particularly Craig and Jade who've

00:56 been working really closely with us to plan the event but also to our Red Kite

01:00 friends and family committee that have also worked really closely with us and

01:04 were a big part of the fun day as well. Well that actually came about because

01:09 one of our colleagues had a relative that was here at the school and

01:11 recognised the value of the educational support that they got here and it

01:16 was something that as a team and as a local community here we felt we

01:21 wanted to support. Well as a fairly sizable local employer we do feel it is

01:25 important to make a contribution to the local community in which we

01:30 operate and that's how it's come about really. I think it comes back to that

01:34 just that local involvement, what a great place it is for the young people that

01:38 are here and the value it adds to their lives really. I think we're

01:43 going to continue to do something. We have the Red Kite Cup which we do each

01:46 year and certainly we're looking towards doing that for next year so we do want

01:50 to continue to support the establishment. Yeah it's just a great

01:53 partnership so it's great to be able to be involved in something like this.
