00:00 to the lawsuit over a chicken McNugget. A Florida family claimed their daughter

00:03 suffered second degree burns and now a jury has decided how much money the

00:08 family will get. Ariel Reshiff has the story. Good morning to you, Michael.

00:12 This lawsuit stemmed from a trip to the drive through in August of 2019.

00:16 Filana Holmes says that she ordered a six piece chicken McNugget happy meal

00:20 for her four year old daughter, Olivia. Olivia then dropped a McNugget on her

00:25 lap, which got stuck between her thigh and a seat belt, resulting in second

00:29 degree burns. While the family's lawyers said that the nugget left Olivia

00:33 disfigured and scarred, the girl's parents claim the fast food chain

00:36 failed to warn customers of the hot food and cooked the food at a higher

00:41 temperature than was actually necessary. Lawyers for McDonald's argued that the

00:45 nugget could not have been more than 160 degrees and should not have been

00:49 held onto the skin, obviously. So in May of a separate jury found some fault

00:55 with both McDonald's and the franchisee. And just yesterday, Filana and her

00:59 daughter were back in the courtroom as the jury came back with a verdict.

01:02 After deliberating for two hours, they awarded the family $800,000 for the

01:08 pain and suffering. And Filana says that she's happy that they listened to

01:11 Olivia's voice and the jury was able to decide a fair judgment. Guys, all right,
