00:00 This is going to be my third Fastnet, although I've been around the Fastnet Rock many, many, many times in other races.
00:09 So my first one was in 2019 with Paul Larson, the world speed sailing record holder.
00:16 And after 24 hours in the oldest boat in the Amoca fleet, we were leading the whole Fastnet fleet.
00:24 It was an incredible race. I don't think this one's going to be the same, but I know it'll be good.
00:29 I think it's really important that we're seeing more women getting involved in the Fastnet race.
00:36 In the last edition, 12% of participants were women, and there are more in this edition.
00:42 Offshore sailing is a sport that really lends itself to a blend of crews, because it requires an awful lot of different skills and talents.
00:51 And so there is definitely a good place for women in offshore sailing.
00:55 I just want to encourage all women out there, if they're interested, to have a go.
01:01 And you really belong out here. You belong out here as much as I do, as much as everyone else does.
01:06 So come and join it. It's an incredible sport.
