Transcription
00:00 I'm going to show you one of the last remains of a Paris metro station access
00:04 still in its original state, and it's rare!
00:06 If you have the opportunity, go to the Porte Dauphine station on line 2
00:10 and discover this incredible metro entrance that was installed between 1900 and 1902.
00:16 To understand, we must go back to the launch of the Paris metro in 1900,
00:20 in the middle of the Universal Expo,
00:22 and the city of Paris is in charge of the emblematic architect of the Rougeau, Hector Guimard,
00:27 of designing the edicules, namely the metro entrances.
00:31 Guimard will flood the capital with two types of edicules,
00:34 type A with a square background, the most classic,
00:37 and type B with a rounded background and the roof inverted.
00:42 The edicule of our Porte Dauphine station is type B,
00:46 with its glass roof called the Marquise de Vey,
00:48 and it is now the only and last copy still in its original state and visible in Paris.
00:53 It is given the nickname of Libellule because of its insect shape.
00:58 Well, today there are tags on it, I'm still happy.
01:02 Come see for yourself!
